MONA UPDATE & A NEW DACHSHUND ANGEL AT THE BRIDGE

NEW ORLEANS 40 TEXANS 33
BOO HOO--ENOUGH SAID--MAYBE NEXT TIME!!

Hi friends,

Have ya missed us? We sure have missed you guys but Mommy is kinda worried about me and just hasn't been thinking too much about anything else and then one of our dachshunds was hit by a car and killed, so she's been very sad and crying a lot lately. But something wonderful did happened last week. ATDR had a new wirehair named Angus come in and Mommy did a home visit Tuesday with a couple that were interested in him. GUESS WHAT?? Mommy passed them with flying colors and he got ADOPTED!!! He went to his new home Friday.

Here is the bio from the ATDR website about him:

This cute little guy was left in a apartment when his "owners" moved. Seven month old Angus was still there five days later all alone when someone sent to clean the apartment found him. He was in terrible shape with a bad skin issues! His head was full of nasty sores, no hair on his head, neck, or ears, covered in fleas and had a serious ear infection. Angus has been vetted and is now on the road to recovery. Look at him now - he is a handsome and healthy guy! In spite of everything his tail is still wagging! Angus is ready for his good life to begin!

This is me!!

This is Angus!!
We kinda look alike don't ya think? But he is only 9 months old and his new name is Barney.
The Mommy here....

Sorry it has taken me so long to give an update on my precious girl, but I really was expecting better results from her blood work on the 16th than I was given. Before I go on though, I want to tell you that at the end of this post I will be posting a letter that is very sad, so if you don't want to read it I will understand.

Mona went for additional blood work on the 16th. The good news is that her gall bladder blood work was good and all of her other blood work was normal. The bad news is that the blood work on her liver are higher than they were before. Dr Briles has given her another medication to take for the next 30 days along with what she was taking before. Then we will test again. If her liver has not gotten any better by then, she will have a biopsy. She isn't acting any differently then before so I don't know what to say or how to react, except to be fearful.

When my sisters, my cousins and I got back from our beach getaway, I was going through all my e-mails and came across a very upsetting one. One of our newest pups that was rescued from a puppy mill was tragically killed just when she had a chance to live a normal life. It is so sad to lose a dog who is sick but to lose one like that is too much to bear. She has joined all the other pups we couldn't save. She is a peace now and can never be hurt again. That's why the letter below hit me so hard.

Angel Sabina

To all owners that gave up too soon!!!!

I died today. You got tired of me and took me to the shelter. They were overcrowded and I drew an unlucky number. I am in a black plastic bag in a landfill now. Some other puppy will get the barely used leash you left. My collar was dirty and too small, but the lady took it off before she sent me to the Rainbow Bridge . Would I still be at home if I hadn’t chewed your shoe? I didn’t know what it was, but it was leather, and it was on the floor. I was just playing. You forgot to get puppy toys. Would I still be at home if I had been housebroken? Rubbing my nose in what I did only made me ashamed that I had to go at all. There are books and obedience teachers that would have taught you how to teach me to go to the door. Would I still be at home if I hadn’t brought fleas into the house? Without anti-flea medicine, I couldn’t get them off of me after you left me in the yard for days. Would I still be at home if I hadn’t barked? I was only saying, “I’m scared, I’m lonely, I’m here, I’m here! I want to be your best friend.” Would I still be at home if I had made you happy? Hitting me didn’t make me learn how. Would I still be at home if you had taken the time to care for me and to teach manners to me? You didn’t pay attention to me after the first week or so, but I spent all my time waiting for you to love me. I died today.

Oh, Mona....please don't give us any bad news ever again. The new meds have to work for you and your liver will be as good as new. All paws crossed for a good blood report the next time.

So so sad about poor little Angel Sabina. Something tragic like this is almost too hard to bear. It just isn't right. Hope she is running and playing at the Bridge and enjoying the life she could never have here on Earth.

RIP my dear Sabina!
