FEEBEE & RAY

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

(courtesy of Bolo)

"DOGS have more love than integrity. They've been true to us, yes, but they haven't been true to themselves."
---Clarence Day
Hi my dearest friends,
Something horrible happened to one of our new doggies that was picked up today from Harris County Animal Control by one of our volunteers, Meredith. I know that we all were shocked and sickened about what happened to Joanie but she is now on the road to recovery. We pray with all ours hearts that this new little one will be strong and healthy soon. But......before we tell you about Ray and show everybody his picture, I wanna show you my new little friend, Feebee. Mommy cried when she saw Ray's picture and is furious about it, so we'll tell you about Feebee, so maybe Mommy will calm down a little.
Last week before I got my new camera, I saw something I had never seen before....well Mommy had but not me. I was sitting outside when I saw something walking very slowly up my driveway. It was funny looking, round & kinda green and brown. When he/she heard me and Brownie, a neighbor dog, barking at it, he/she ducked inside this little house that it was wearing on its back and didn't move for a long, long time. Finally I went inside to get Mommy and when we got back outside he was gone. So I been watching and it keeps coming back and taunting me. Finally Mommy took a some pictures of me and it last night.

Here he is on the other side of my fence. Mommy said it is a turtle.

I was gonna call him/her, Flash, cause when he/she comes out of its little house he can move pretty fast.....But.....I changed my mind and I'm gonna call him/her Feebee.
Aunt Judy told Mommy, that when she was a little girl, her sister, Janice used to make their Mom stop the car whenever she saw a turtle waking along or in the road. So they had lots of turtles at their hour when they were children. Janice was around 9 old ten years old when she started rescuing turtles. She would get fingernail polish and write the name Feebee on the shell of each one. So my new friend has a name.
Mommy here..........Let me warn you all now that the picture of Ray will not be an easy one to take. My heart breaks to think what this poor little one went through but he is in safe hands now and DROH will do everything in our power to help him get better. Here is what is on the website as of this afternoon on the receiving care list.

Updated: 06/09/09

This is the content of the e-mail I got this afternoon with Ray's picture.

Well Ray is our new boy. As you can see he has a bad wound on his back. The
shelter staff can only guess at what caused this. Despite his pain his tail
never stopped wagging!!! I even got several kisses. He was listed as a stray
but it's not likely because he had a collar on. He is a deep red tweenie
about 2 or 3.

Please keep Ray in your thoughts and prayers. We will never give up on him. If you would like to donate towards his care please go to our website @ http://www.dachshundrescueofhouston.org and say it is for Ray's medical bills.

Mona here.......Mommy is not too shy or too proud to ask for help. Why would anybody want to treat any of us like this. It is crime against all of us. Thank God, there are rescue groups in this sometimes disgusting world. Well it ever stop?
Here are the two videos Mom took this afternoon.

Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}}....Mona & Mommy too!!

My mom leaks right away when she sees Ray's picture after she smiles at the turtle. Can I send you money to help with Ray's medical bill, please?
I'm so sorry that I haven't been around much to leave you a few nice words for each post but I did read them all.
Love ya lot

Poor boy Ray!!! Mom was very sad when she saw the pic because she said she could almost feel his painful injury... can you ask your mom to give him a gentle hug from us? What a horrible injury that is but I am sure under the care of DROH, it'd heal in no time and hopefully, he'd find his own furever family once he is ready.

That is horrible about what happened to Ray. My Old Girl and I do not understand how some people can be so cruel. Thank you for posting about this and getting the word out.
By the way, I'm Fred, and I just stopped by to say hello.

Oh, that poor dog! Whatever happened to him, it must be painful. We hope he heals quickly. He is getting some TLC now, so he is safe.

We found a turtle the other day too.

Poor Poor Ray. We have no idea how a human's brain and heart can do this to a poor dog. We are sending tons of healing vibes to him and can't thank those DROH folks enough.
