The Mommy here.........

Yesterday we showed you the picture of a precious little puppy that was found dumped the day after Christmas. It makes me very angry that someone would do that. There is no excuse for dumping a puppy with medical issues much less a healthy one. He has captured our hearts and thank God that he is with Judy at least until Jan 16.

Judy and Petey

Petey's Story..........

On Dec 26, one of our volunteers was driving down a street when she saw a box on a curb and it was moving, so she got out and   found a tiny 2 pound puppy. She knew at once that something was wrong. It was very evident that he had a hernia. At first she thought he couldn't walk but he does even though he does walk a like a little different than other puppies. There are other problems too.

She took him home but was going out of town and the word went out a foster was needed and that's when Judy stepped up.

On  Dec 31, Judy sent an e-mail that said........

He's about 2 lbs and is walking. The hernia is hardly noticeable. He growls, OMG he growls and tries to play with my dogs.

He loves to play with everybody, with toys or alone.
with Brinda's dogs

by himself

with Winston

with Bandit

Of course George always invites new fosters in, that's one reason I love him so much.

Brinda and Petey

He has captured every ones heart. I could just reach through this computer screen and hold him next to my heart. Yesterday I was going to Judy's to visit him but it rained here all day. Next weekend the usual doxie gang is going to our monthly birthday dinner and I hope to see him then. It's my birthday this time.

Diana & Petey

Judy took Petey to her vet the other day and she sent all of ATDR this  e-mail:

He still weighs 2 lbs, as he did a week ago. Eats very well. Vet said he should have 4-5 small meals a day to keep feces moving thru. He also said the hernia needs to be pushed in often, best if he is trying to poop (but he won't allow). So I'm doing it frequently thru out the day. The hernia is part of his intestine and feces could become stuck in it.

His Small size could be due to congenital birth defects but not necessarily. Some paralysis in legs (they splay out on each side) but vet doesn't think tying his legs together will help because there is some abnormality in his lower back. Also found mass in his bladder but he doesn't think it is malignant. Heart sounds good. Watch urine for cloudiness, could be susceptible to UTI. Surgeries about $900 each.

Needs to be 5 lbs before eligible for surgery on hernia and mass. Probably not both surgeries at the same time. Did ultra sound, gave puppy HW pill, re-wormed all at no charge.

How could anyone resist this little face. Please we need the Power of the Paw and donations towards his care.

Petey will be with Judy until she has knee replacement surgery on Jan 19, and since he has to be feed 5 times a day, it has to be someone who is home all day. I wish he could come stay with us but I have to work too.

God Bless.............Sarah, the Mommy

Mom is all googly eyes over him! Gee thanks! We thought we had cured her of wanting a puppy by peeing excessively in the house! BOL! We'll just have to try again.
Anyhow, we are sending prayers and well-wishes to him!
