Our Country Trip Day 3

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"Who can believe that there is no soul behind those luminous eyes!"

"Weenie?" "What, Sissy, don' t you see me trying to sleep?" "You been asleep all day, it's time to play!!" " But I'm so tired, all that playing at the party last night wiped me out." "But you was the hit of the party. That roaching demonstration you gave was fantastic!. I've trained you well." "It was fun, but that little dog pushing the ball around with his nose was cuter." "Nobody was cuter than you little fella." "What about Brooklyn? She was hilarious when she slipped through the doggie gate and managed to get up the second floor and then couldn't figure how to get back down." "Thank goodness Bill saw her sneak up there and rescued her!!" "But it was funny! But poor Aunt Judy almost had a heart attack."

Dear friends,

Yesterday was so much fun!! We haven't seen Mommy laugh so much in forever and the food!! Oh my!! Mommy said the BBQ Bambie Burgers and the boiled scrimp was to die for. Not to mention the Ice Cream Birthday Cake, the Chocolate Jelly Role Cake, the Strawberry and Pecan pies and the peach cheesecake. Them 6 Mommies and the 2 Daddy's brave enough to show up sure can cook. Us 15 dachshunds didn't get nothing like that to eat but Susan, the party was at her house, had a basket of assorted treats for us. Our Doofuss Mommy forgot our camera at work Friday, so we got no pictures to share but Aunt Paula & Brinda took lots of pictures and have promised to e-mail Mommy some. Them peeps were so funny, like a barrel of monkeys while us doggies were just too cute and well mannered.

Day 3 of our weekend trip:

Remember this little cutie, Sherman? Last time we were in the country Emma wouldn't leave me alone and this time she scared my brother so much, he stayed on some body's lap most of time when Emma was around. Thank goodness Emma and Sherman are best buddies and Emma pestered him instead of us most of the time.

This time the black doggies out numbered the reds. Except for me, it was hard telling which of the little boys was which. Jake didn't have a collar on and Weenie had a blue collar on. Sherman is black too but he is a dapple and looks like he's all black when he's playing in the mud.

The way you can tell him apart is his cute little butt with a ring of white around his tail.
Here are some pictures of Emma & Sherman playing, well actually Emma dragging Sherman around by Sherman's little orange carrot stuffie.

Again the most important event of the day was keeping th cowdogs in their place. Here are some of us are plotting who will cover what perimeter.

Remember my Sammy? He was the hero of the day. He chased away a calf all by himself that kept getting too close to the fence.

First the calf went one way, but not to close.....

then he got right up next to the fence to eat the grass by the fence......
then my Sammy sprung into action, ran to the gate barking and the calf jumped and ran the other way. That little tiny speck in front of the gate is my hero, Sammy.

In our Day 2 post, we showed you some pictures of us looking for cowdogs. Well this spot is the trail on the way to the tank where they go to drink water. As you can see they wasn't paying no attention to us at all.
Some more cow dog pictures.

Stupid cowdog, just staring us down.
Cow herding is hard work. Here we're waiting to be let in to take a nap but you saw plenty of nap pictures last time.
{{{huggies}}}......Mona, Weenie & our country friends too!!
