Day 1 Friday:

First off let me and Weenie, say that Mommy tricked us. She carried Weenie out to the car first and put him in a big traveling crate. He was not very happy about it. She said: "I can't have two dogs climbing all over me when I drive two hours to the country." So I thought, this is cool. I can ride in Mommy's lap like I always have. Wrong!! Then she carried me out to the car and put me in the crate too. How rude!! I was not very happy about it either.

We sleep most of the way up to Benchley. Mommy stopped in Bryan at a McDonalds, so we could get a drink and walk around a little. Weenie had his Texas A & M harness on and he looked so handsome. For those of you who don't know much about Texas, College Station, where Texas A & M is located, is right next to Bryan, kinda like kissing cousins. The lady at the drive thru window had to come over to the car and ask about where the harness came from. She even cuddled with Weenie and I gave her a few free kisses. Mommy let us ride the rest of the way to Benchley in the front seat with her. It was only about 15 minutes from Bryan.

I was so excited. I knew just where we were when we pulled onto the road that leads to Aunt Mary's property. I told Weenie when I saw some cowdogs. He got his sniffer to working and got so excited. My poor brother, I wish he could see what I can see. Cowdogs are fantastic!

We pulled into the shell road leading to Aunt Mary and Aunt Becky's houses, but didn't see even one of my doggie friends. We weren't very happy about that, let me tell you. Aunt Mary said all of her dogs were at Aunt Becky's house next door with their two cousins and wouldn't be over until Aunt Becky got home.
Mommy here.....let me explain that Mary had to go to College Station for about 3 hours to the university and we didn't think it would be a good idea for me to have to deal with 7 dachshunds and 1 very excited 60 pound labador. So we took a nap until she got back. Weenie and Mona were not very happy about it. They were ready to play.

Not much went on that first day except barking at cowdogs and running around visitig and sniffing on all our dogs friends. Weenie was scared of Emma, she out weighs him by 45 pounds, so Mommy, Aunt Mary or Aunt Becky held him most of the time. He loves to cuddle so he was OK with that.

For those of you who don't know Dachsies Rule, since they haven't blogged in forever, there is Roxie, Sammy, Andy and now Sherman, the new kid on the block. Mommy was shocked when she found out Aunt Mary got another dachshund that isn't red like all the others. Aunt Becky has Emma & Jake. So let me introduce you so you can keep track.

COWDOGS

What is a trip to the country without cowdogs? They are every where you look when it's cool. When it's hot they stay under the trees.

Mona on the alert for cowdogs.

All these cowdog pictures were taken from the front porch of the house.

That's it for now.

PS....Spell checking isn't working again, so please excuse our typist.
