OFF TO THE COUNTRY

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"It's not about how many times you fall, it's what you do when you pick yourself up that matters."

(Frankie courtesy of Twinkie Tiny Dog) @

"Mona! Mona!! Mona!!! What's going on? How come Mommy's all happy? She's almost doing the Happy Dance!!

"Cause we're going to the country four 4 whole days tomorrow."

"What's the country."

"That's were Aunt Mary and Dachsies Rule live. You remember them, don't ya.?They came to Houston when Aunt Tina & Chris had everybody over for a BBQ in April."

"I know!! Roxie, Sammy and Andy. They got a new brother named Sherman too. He's looks just like me!!"

"Mommy loves going to the country. The last time we went was Labor Day last year. Mommy needs a Roxie fix bad. I get to see Sammy too!

"I'm gonna tell Tiger. Your gonna be cheating on him with Sammy!!"

"You better not!"

"What are we gonna do in the country, Mona?"

"We're gonna bark at cowdogs, chase squirrels, roach and sniff all around. It's so much fun. You'll like the cowdoys, Weenie!"

"But I won't be able to see them. (sniffling) I never seen a cowdog."

"Don't worry, little fella, you'll be able to smell them. Just stick close to me and you won't miss nothing."

"But, what's Mommy & Aunt Mary gonna do?"

"What they always do. Watch us play, drink coffee sitting on the porch while they watch the sunrise or sunset and talking. Nothing!! Just drinking in the country and smelling the fresh air. Mommy's say it's like being in heaven. We might even have a weenie roast and make smores. That's what peeps do Memorial Day"

"Oh no!! They're gonna eat me?" (crying). Look at this poor Weenie dog."

"Gotcha!!" (rolling over laughing)

So off we go to the country tomorrow. Dachsies Rule new doghouse is ready and they have just moved in. Aunt Mary kept a black & tan little dachshund that a lady she works with found. No tags, no collar, no chip so now Aunt Mary has 4 of us. She's always like smooth reds so this will to be interesting. We'll take tons of pictures & post them next week.

You just gotta see this pup. Guess what breed he is? He's a Labrador/Dachshund mix. He looks like he'd be a good roacher. Check out the last picture. Wonder who was the Daddy and who was the Mommy?

Update....5/27/11

Opps!! He is a she. Mommy just found the answer to the question of who was the father, a long haired dachshund. What a matchup!

Cali is my very first puppy and such a lovable little stinker. Her father was a long-haired, brown Dachshund and her mother was a black Lab. Cali is very spunky and loves to play and run! She is intelligent and enjoys challenging herself by playing games with us. Rawhide sticks, ropes (and sometimes Mommy's fingers!) are her favorite things to chew on. But don't forget her best friend "Dog"! She loves to carry him around, eat and sleep with him too. She's great at fetch and adores playing a game of chase or tag in the grass. Cali loves naps on the couch, being on her back and getting her belly rubbed. I am so glad to have her a part of my family! We love her!

Gotta go now. The sooner we get to sleep, the sooner we can head out for the country in the morning.

The Country sounds perfect. My people like to go camping to do stuff like that. I hope we can go soon. What a great new addition to the family!

How absolutely darling! Our momma would ♥ to have a lil' pupper like that one running around out house. Us - not so much. We like things just as they are...sigh.
