Shelby Update

Mommy here............

This morning Sandra and I took Miss Shelby to see Dr Briles for another checkup. Dr Briles still hasn't been able to locate any mites but does think she has Demadex mange so he is treating it accordingly. Her heart is still strong but there is a problem with the supplier of the heart worm shots not being safe so until he can find anybody that has any he has started her on Heartgard Plus and Prednisone. I asked him if this was just here but he said everyone is having the same problem. His supply is gone but he said he will keep checking around to see if anybody has any that is safe to use. He said it wouldn't hurt her and the Prednisone will help with her itching. If he can find the shots she will have to stop taking the Prednisone. Her skin is so much better and her hair is growing back. The really raw spots and sores she had before are aren't nearly as bad anymore. We take her back in a month and then we will discuss her being spayed. She is having no problem with her eye injury and Dr Briles says she has a cherry eye now. Here are some new pictures all taken this morning. Sandra said that Shelby loves to ride in the car and I believe it. See headed straight to my car and hopped in with a little push to the butt.
"OK, I'm ready, lets go."
"Mommy got me up early, wake me when we get there"
Yawn!
"Are we here yet??"
This is where Dr Briles lives.
Waiting our turn.
"My butt's looking much better, don't ya think?"
Sandra waiting with Shelby while I pay the bill.
Shelby trying to kiss Sandra through the window. Home at last.

When I came out, Shelby was socializing with everybody in the the waiting room, it was so exciting to see her greeting everybody. She loves people. There were no dogs in the waiting room but Dr Briles said we can start introducing her to other dogs but to go very slow because she might be terrified of dogs since it was dogs that were forced to hurt her. Please pray that she can can handle being around other dogs.
Please help us wish my dear friend
Phantom Godspead when he has
his surgery next week.
Mona here.........We started this post hours away. But it's Saturday night which is means its "Animal Planet" night at the Ricca household. We never miss Dogs 101, Last Chance Highway and Pit Boss. So now lets talk about ME!

As soon as Mommy got back I was waiting at the door. I do this everyday time Mommy comes home from work. NO, I am not bowing down to her I'm just stretching........
and then I wait for her to pick me up so I can cover her with kisses
Please excuse the mess behind me...I kinda drug the towels out of the laundry basket and torn some Kleenex up.
"Do you forgive me Mommy?"
"Of  course I do Bobbitt"
Who could ever be mad at a face like that.
Mommy here again..........

My Mona is doing very well, so far, with her Arthritis. She hasn't been jumping, except into her chair or the couch, and hasn't had to take anymore of the Rimadly but it's here just in case. I am giving her Gloucaphage and Controtine (probably not spelled right) pills and chicken strips that have the same thing in it. I pick her up to sit with me and put her up on the bed (she never could jump that high anyway) and take her down when she wants to get down. She never has to jump again as for as I'm concerned but I know she really wants too.
Oh, yes!! They say that misery loves company or at least that's what Mommy says, so Thunder went and gots a ouchie on his snooter and he has to wear the dreaded collar. I think that Thunder didn't want Phantom to feel bad being in a collar next week so he did it on purpose. Brothers gotta stick together you know. Their Mommy found a nice comfy one, actually two now, so it don't look to bad. Now lets hope Ciara doesn't run in to any problems.
That's all for one tonight.

Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}} to all....Mona & the Mommy too!!

Gosh, I can't believes how much better Miss Shelby looks! My paws are crossed that she's not skeered of other doggies. But I sure wouldn't blame her if she was.

And Mona, who could NOT forgive you for tearing up a few kleenexes? Specially when you look at 'em like that!

I'm so glad Shelby is doing better! It amazes me how we doggies can still trust two leggers after this kind of thing. I hope she isn't too scared of the friendly dogs she will soon meet. Poor dear...

I'm glad your not needing those pills anymore! And hey, what's a tissue or two when you're waiting for Mommy?! :)

Shelby seems to be doing so well. It appears you all really did save her life. Paws crossed that she does OK with other dogs. I'm also happy to know that Mona's doing well. That's another piece of good news. I hope all goes well for Phantom and the other doggies who are facing challenges in the immediate future as well.

It sounds like you have a great vet that is taking extra good care of her.

Please let us know if you need anything at all!

We hope it was not 105 degrees in your area today. This heat is just horrible!
