WE HAVE A WINNER AND TRAVIS NEEDS HELP

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"Puppies are nature's remedy for feeling unloved ... plus numerous other ailments of LIFE."
--- Richard Allan Palm

Hi dear friends,

This is Mommy's favorite time of the year, the fall, and she was very excited when we got up this morning and it was 53 degrees outside and we went to listen to the birds sing and the wind chimes play their sweet tunes, but that ended very soon.
Last night Aunt Judy told Mommy that she and Meredith picked up a little dog from that horrible place, BARC, and he was going to be killed because he had a broken leg and they didn't want to do anything for him. Thank God, someone with a little bit of heart called DROH and they ran over to get him. A broken leg is bad but not unfixable. But then this morning when when we went to check our e-mails and do a post about my contest we found this from Aunt Judy....

Meredith just called. She said Travis's leg is really bad, crushed. They said they could amputate it or refer him to a specialist. They decided to try for saving his leg and he is being referred to Bay Area vet specialist on Monday. About $3000 .

Mommy is crushed by the news. DROH doesn't have that kind of money laying around, so we are begging for help for one of our own. What is so hard is that, if you look at angel Jody's picture on my sidebar, you will see that Travis is a chocolate boy just like Jody was. Mommy's heart is breaking over this news, it's almost like poor Jody all over again. So if you could please, please help DROH pay for him to have surgery. Any donation would be appreciated and of course, lots of prayers are needed too. Please click on the DROH link on my sidebar if you would like to make a tax deductible donation and say it is for Travis's surgery.

MONA'S COSTUME IS A UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS CHEERLEADER!!!

We have s a winner!! The winning answer was from Anne-Katherine.

Anne-Kathrine has left a new comment on your post "HALLOWEEN COSTUME AND JOANIE UPDATE": Oh Mona are you going to be a UT (University of Texas) cheerleader???? Thanks for the Joanie Update!

A close second was angel Jody's parents who guessed:

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "HALLOWEEN COSTUME AND JOANIE UPDATE": You are going as LSU cheerleaders and you humans as the refs??????Now you get to guess who this is....

Tina was almost right, I'm the University of Texas cheerleader and Brooklyn is gonna be the LSU cheerleader.

Coming in close with the right idea was Addie, Luci and Hailey who guessed:

Raising Addie has left a new comment on your post "HALLOWEEN COSTUME AND JOANIE UPDATE": hmmm.... first we can't wait to see the final picture with all of the doxies!!!Hmmm... are you guys gonna be a little football team??We will have to keep thinking.

Lots of Luv & Kisses Addie, Lucie, and Hailey.

Since Mommy hasn't stopped crying since we found out about Travis, tonight you just get to see one picture but tomorrow I promise Mommy will post more pictures of us doggies trying on our costumes.

Here are a few pictures Aunt Judy took of Travis when they picked him up from BARC. He had a collar on with no name and looks very healthy other than the leg.
He was found on the side of a road where he had been hit by a car. No one claimed him and the thought of BARC killing him was not an option. We will find the money.

Awhile back Mommy read a story about a little boy that wanted a puppy and would have given all he had, 39 cents, for a look at one. Here is the story of that little boy. It reminded my Mommy of the little boy and the little puppy. She crys every time she reads it. Travis deserves his chance to find a boy of his own.

A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the 4 pups and set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard.. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the eyes of a little boy.

"Mister," he said, "I want to buy one of your puppies."

"Well," said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat off the back of his neck, "These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money."

The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer.

"I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?"

"Sure," said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle. "Here, Dolly!" he called.

Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur.

The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes danced with delight. As the dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse...

Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up...

"I want that one," the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said,"Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would."

With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers.

In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself to a specially made shoe.

Looking back up at the farmer, he said, "You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands.

"With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up the little pup.

Holding it carefully he handed it to the little boy.

"How much?" asked the little boy. "No charge," answered the farmer, "There's no charge for love."

The world is full of people who need someone who understands.

Before we close for tonight, Mommy loaded a video that she took yesterday morning when she was trying to get me out of bed. I do this most every morning, it's one of my rituals each day. Mommy said she thinks it is just funny. What do you think?

You might want to lower your volume...We wake up to country music blaring out of the radio every morning.

Remember how cool I said it was this morning, 53. Yesterday morning it was 84 degrees and very humid. By 11 am, it started storming until around 3 pm, then by the time Mommy got off work the cool front came in and was 60 when Mommy got home. Normal Texas weather for us. This video was taken on the roof of the hospital where Mommy parks her car. Again the radio is way to high. It's a wonder Mommy isn't deaf.
Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}} to all.....Mona

Mona please tell your Mommy not to be sad about Travis. He is alive, and he can be fixed. Some things can't be fixed, but Money will come to fix him. He will be someone's beloved friend one day thanks to y'all. You did the correct thing.
