QUOTE OF THE DAY: (Hershey courtesy of Shane @ http://huskeeboy.blogspot.com/)
"DOG...We have not to gain his confidence or his friendship: he is born our friend, while his eyes are still closed, already he believes in us: even before his birth, he has given himself to man."
--- Maurice Maeterlinck
Hi dearest friends,
Mommy is so excited. Travis had his surgery and he is doing wonderful. We got this e-mail Monday evening from Meredith.
Ho-ray Ho-ray Travis is out of surgery. His injury was ten to fourteen days ago so he has been in pain for a long time. His injury looked more like a he had been kicked or stomped on than hit by a car. He had a choke chain on him that was way too small that had to be cut off during surgery.(not sure why Westside did not take care of that??) I will get a phone call in the morning to let me know how he does over night and then I will pick him up. He will be on crate rest for eight weeks with some trips back to the clinic for check ups. Ill keep you posted on how the baby is doing. M
Then we got this last night.
I now have Travis home and as long as he sees me he is OK with being in the crate. Our ol surgery vet (Brad) keeps walking over checking on him, super cute!! For the record he snapped at me when I reached out to touch him. I think it's fear/comfort with whoever he is with at the time. Good news: they told me I could take off the bandages myself and stitches so maybe some sweet vet tech might help us??? His next follow up is in 14 days for x-rays to make sure he is healing correctly. He already made friends with a staff person at the hospital so he may pass and be able to foster to adoptTravis after his leg is healed. He has one more surgery to go. The big snip which will cost less at Westside. I'll take pictures and keep everyone up to date.
Thanks to everyone for praying for Travis and making donations. God Bless you all!!!
Leave it to Bradley to help Travis get better. Who could resist a smile like this. He has been through a lot in his short life and always has a smile on his silly little face. Mommy has shed many tears over him but then she is just a cryer.
Since Meredith and Becky will be fostering Travis for now, that means we can meet him soon and he is going to go to the Halloweiner on Oct 25th too. Even if Travis can't run and play yet, Mommy is looking forward to just holding him and loving on him. Can't wait for the next dachsie play date.
HALLOWEEN IS A COMIN!!!
I love going to the Halloweiner because I get to see some of my brothers and some of the many fosters Mommy has brought to stay with us. Every year we have lots of costume contests and this year me and my friends are gonna try to win the theme one. It don't matter what the prize is, we just gotta win. We are going as two rival teams and the referees to keep the peace. Me and George are representing the University of Texas Longhorns, Brooklyn and Bandit are representing the Louisiana State University Tigers, Harley is gonna be the LSU mascot and the Mommies are gonna be the referees. We don't got nobody to dress as a longhorn, maybe we can borrow a cow dog from the country but he might poop everywhere and that would be gross. Why these two teams? Well, Texas, is a no brainer and Aunt Judy went to LSU.
This picture was one of the decorations where we had the Halloweiner last year. Lots of scary eyes!
The hospital where Mommy works is having a contest too for the best decorated office. Mommy is on the committee that is doing the decorations. Mommy brought some stuff we had but it still needs a lot of work. Here's a peek at what they've done so far around the reception desk and consultation area in the Business Office.
(this plant was given to Mommy while she was in the hospital in 2007 & she gave it to the office)
