DIVAS & DOGGIES LUNCHEON & FASHION SHOW

QUOTE OF THE DAY: (courtesy of Fenres)

"The dog has got more fun out of man than man has got out of DOG, for man is the more laughable of the two ANIMALS.

-- James Thurber

Hi friends,

Boy of boy, was it ever a busy weekend! Mommy went off and left me at home Saturday for 12 whole hours. I was mad at her for leaving me at home all day and not letting me be a model in the fashion show but I forgave her because Sunday I got to stay at Aunt Judy's house with the boys while they went to help stuff envelopes for the Halloweener Party. Why did it take so long for her to come home? After the benefit, she and my Aunt Pam went to their cousin, Veta Nell's 80th birthday party and then they went to the hospital to visit their cousin, Bennie, who is having open heart surgery on Wednesday. Since I didn't get to go to the benefit, I'm gonna let Mommy tell you about it and show you lots of pictures .

The Benefit was held in the Country Club at April Sound on Lake Conroe. It included lunch, a live and silent auction, entertainment, a raffle and door prizes. I didn't win anything but I did bring home a pretty ribbon, that was on the package somebody at our table won. There were 10 settings at each table and there were 22 tables, all full, so there were a lot of people there & at 40.00 a head, they made they made $8800.00 just on tickets. Fantastic!!

First off, there was the luncheon with Chicken and Artichoke Hot Pasta with Cream Sauce, Mini-Salad Tower, rolls and tea.

But the dessert was to die for. They called it a Bow Woo Brownie.

After lunch was the entertainment. Here is the act. The girls are Hannah & Abby. The dog is Missy, a gorgeous long haired dachshund. They sang "GOD AND DOG" and Missy was the featured dog. Recently we posted a link to the song, so for those you who missed it I have added the link to this post.

There was a live auction with only 3 items: a private plane ride, a weekend for 2 at a romantic location and a private wine tasting party at a Texas winery. There was also a raffle for gift cards to restaurants. $5.00 a chance or 5 for $20.00. Tanna, a cousin, won one to Los Cucos Mexican Restaurant for 6 people.

There was a silent auction with lots of doggie things as well. I bet on two things for Mona, a basket of toys and one with 2 really cute shirts.

I also bet on a little pig cookie jar for myself.

Needless to say I didn't bet high enough on any of it.

Next was the fashion show. I went to see doggies not Divas, so sorry there are no pictures of the Divas. The lighting was not every good for picture taking but I think you will get the idea. But first there was a special little girl named Molly, who's Mommy and Daddy were at our table, friends of cousin Tanna. The trill of the whole affair for me was being able to hold this sweetie and hear her rescue story.

MOLLY

Molly's story......
Molly was found in a deserted apartment abandoned by the children of her elderly owner, who had died. They didn't want her, so why not just dump her in an empty apartment with no food or water. When she was found, she was starving, matted, emaciated and very scared. Then along came her Mom and Dad, Marilyn & Rick, who adopted her. She was very scared, so scared that she wouldn't let anyone touch her. They named her Zoey, but she would never come when they call her that. One day she was at the clinic when an elderly lady with gray hair came in. Zoey got very excited when she saw this woman, so they think her owner must have had gray hair. One day Rick and Marilyn were sitting in their living room with her playing quitely by herself. Marilyn said......"Zoey just doesn't look like a Zoey. More like a Sally or a Molly". Rick said it was like a new doggie was born. She started hoping around and looked so excited. Marilyn told her husband to go into another room and call her. Sally didn't work but when he called Molly, she came running and the rest is history, a new happy, cuddly, affectionate baby girl was born.
Rick and Marilyn want to adopt another rescue and Rick wants a red dachshund. DROH has lots of red dachshunds!! We just took in a owner surrender named Minnie, who is a long haired red. Don't you think Molly and Minnie, has a certain ring to it!!

Molly's red dress and hat.

Molly, Mom & Dad.

So there you have it. It was so much fun and the dogs were all so cute. Nobody wanted to stay on the runway and it was so funny watching the dogs jumping off and being chased down.
Remember the ribbon? Well I brought it home. Mona wasn't very impressed.

Mona here......Sometimes I worry about my Mommy. I look like a Doofuss and there is only room for one Doofus in this house it's not me!!
Tomorrow we'll post about Sunday and the great time I had with the boys and Brooklyn.
Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}} to all..........Mona & Mommy

PS Sorry I haven't gotten you a flower picture. There aren't many flowers left in my mom's garden, but we'll still try to get a picture taken.
