MONA & THE MOMMY ON A GLOOMY DAY AND DROH DOGGIES

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

{{{ORCHID COURTESY OF THE OP PACK}}}

"Money will buy you a pretty good dog, but it won't buy the wag of his tail." ---- Henry Wheeler Shaw

Hi dear friends,

Guess what!! Mommy took today off to have her boobs smashed flat....it's a mammogram, Mona, and hurts! I was so excited because Mommy said we would go to the park when she got off but NO it's been raining all day. It rained all night long and its been raining ever since. I tell you it is just not fair!! I wanted to go the the park so bad. I didn't mind that I it got cold again....I was gonna wear the pretty pink sweater Simba gave me for my birthday last year. So you ask "what have we been doing all day?". Mommy doesn't watch TV much so we have been reading bloggies, napping and reading about some of the new doggies that Dachshund Rescue of Houston have recently gotten into the program. Mommy can do that all day and there are always some doggies that tug at her heart.....who is she kidding, they all tug at her heart. Mommy is gonna show you some of those little tuggers at the end of this post. BTW....tomorrow Mommy, and maybe me, are going to help stuff envelopes for the DROH SPRING FLING and there will be at least nine doggies just like me there.

CAUTION: This is a very long post so just skip to the bottom to see some of the receiving care cuties if it gets too boring.

Remember this gorgeous tree Mommy saw on her trip? Well quite a few folks knew what it is.
It's called a Bradford Pear but it doesn't bear fruit but after so many years it blooms and the blooms look like little red cherries.

Several weeks/or months ago, Mommy doesn't remember when, I told Mommy I wanted to do a post about brothers and sisters. I was missing my brother JACKS so much at the time and I still do. Anyway, the picture below is of Gorgeous George and Sophie.

So, if ya want to be a part of my post, please let me know and I will include you in my post which Mommy promises me will be in April. I can pick one of my favorite pictures from your blog or you can e-mail Mommy a favorite of yours. So far we have received pictures from Maggie and Mitch and of course my models, George and Sophie. I have chosen some of my friends that I just have to be in my post because they remind me so much what brothers & sisters mean to each other. Of course I didn't really ask permission but if they don't want me to use their pictures I won't. The picture can be of cats, hammies, doggies or even dog/cat pairs. Here are my selections thus far:
Simba & Jazzi
Snowy & Crystal
Roxie, Sammy & Andy
Maggie & Mitch
JB, Bear and Dumplin
Huskee and Hershey

OK.....now for some pictures of what I did most of the day.......

The look of disappointment.

Some of my stuffies to play with.

Stretching.

Getting my cover just right for my 1st nap.

Looking for Mommy to tuck me in.

zzzzzzzzzzzz on my 2nd nap

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz on my 3rd nap

All my other naps today were taken on the Mommy's lap while she was taking the "cure" with our heating pad, in our recliner, but she got back into her flannel nightgown when she got back from getting her boobs smashed and she is to shy to take her picture in her nightie.

As promised, here are the pictures of the "tuggers", but before we do Mommy wants to repeat what the quote of the day says. Money will buy you a pretty good dog, but it won't buy the wag of its tail. When a dog is rescued, the tails are always wagging!! Mine sure was.

All of these dogs are on the receiving care program with DROH.

Alec

I'm Alec. When I joined the program at DRoH, I had a pretty strong case of heart worms, but guess what? I survived! I am so happy since I finally have a foster home!

I am a sweet little boy who was so happy to be out of the kennel and have a home that I gave my foster mommy tons of dachsie kisses and then fell right asleep in her lap.
As you can tell from my pictures, I was born with only one eye (my other is a pretty blue), but that doesn't stop me one bit! In fact, it doesn't even slow me down. I am well behaved and like to relax on my foster mom's lap. I also get along well with my foster sister. At night, I enjoy curling up right next to my foster mommy in her bed and I sleep well all through the night.

I really want a forever home! Are you the right home for me? Last Updated: 03/09/2009

OUCH!

We have no experience with the mammogram yet, but have heard that it's not pleasant. We hope your mommy starts feeling better soon and that everything is ok.

Stupid rain. I guess we need it to turn the grass green again. But does it really need to rain non-stop for soooo long?!

We have been stuck in the house all day long and when mom got home we had fun playing in the rain!! She was NOT pleased. We will share the pictures and video. Lucie learned how to make mud in puddles!! Lucie got her bath first. Addie is up next.

Oh those pups are adorable. You know we have a soft spot for long hairs.

Well... gotta go get my bath now.

Lots of Luv & Kisses
Addie and Lucie

Dear Mona,
You may use my header anytime, ah, I have an idea, why don't you let me put your picture in that picture, that's your post, sweety.
You could take another picture with you sitting pose and e-mail to me or I could search your picture in your blog, let me know, hurry up 'cause 1st day of Spring is next week. Tell me how you want the title Hello Spring or anything, k? All the flowers in my banner is Azeleas, just different colors. Do you want other kind of flowers

It's me again, my clumpsy paw hit Enter by mistake, do you want other flowers, like Tulips, Daffodil? Bradford pear, Cherry Blossom?

Too bad woo had such a long day with so many naps, but Mom will surely make it up to woo another day.

Feel free to snag pics from our blog - we aren't blood brothers and sister but we love each other a lot. If woo prefer, we can try to get a new pic for woo.

Mom says thanks for using that pic of her African violets in your post and your quote was so appropriate - she really believes the wagging of the tail tells the whole story.

Tail wags, the OP Pack
