2 NEW PUPS IN NEED & A LINK TO MAKE YOU SMILE

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "The dog was created specially for children. He is the god of frolic." --
Henry Ward Beecher

Hi dear friends,

Tonight we are gonna introduce all of you, right off the bat, to a doggie we found on the DWB list of blogs. The Mommy says he is very handsome and I think he is too!! Dr. Ainsworth , my Vet has 4 basset hounds and sometimes I get to play with them, that's why I picked this doggie because I don't have a basset hound friend in the DWB family.

Strings of Friendship "E"

Ernest the basset hound from Seattle, Washington

If you don't know Ernest yet stop by and say hello at:

TOBY #4

Last night the Mommy said "will it never end? I don't know why she even had to ask. It will never end. Somewhere, there will always be thoughtless people in the world that think dogs should just be dumped because they are just 'dumb animals'. Believe me.....you don't want to get the Mommy started because you all know she will never stop defending all of us. The little fella above was named Toby by the Vet's office that found him in a box that was taped shut and left on their doorstep 2 weeks ago. Yesterday my Aunt Judy picked him up in Texas City and she took him to our Vet Hospital in Jersey Village. This is exactly what the e-mail Aunt Judy sent the Mommy yesterday said:
He has slipped discs and seems to be paralyzed in his rear end. Alethia said the vet clinic said he was standing and walking. But he just dragged his hind end around when I put him on the bench to take his picture. He's about 2 years old. Very sweet. The vet clinic said he did have deep pain sensation.
Again.....will it never end? Would it have hurt to just ask someone to take the dog....the Mommy said if she knew who left him in that box, she'd tape them in a box too and let them see what it felt like to be dumped. Why are we calling him Toby # 4? Because, sad to say, DROH has had 3 other Tobys' before him. He is not on the website yet.

SEAN

The Mommy just wants to cry. She said she has seen many skinny dogs since she started volunteering with DROH but none ever affected her as much as Sean.
He was recently rescued. His bio on the DROH website in his own words say:
My owner could not afford to keep me, so I ended up in a shelter. I'm very sweet.
Our goal is to fatten him up and make sure he is never starved again. Our website if you'd like to read more about Sean is: http://www.dachshundrescueofhouston.org
Now for the link that will make you smile and has a message at the end that the Mommy does try to follow. It's called the Stethoscope. My new grandparents, Dachsies Rule grandparents, sent it to the Mommy.
Hope everybody has a wonderful weekend. Me and the Mommy are sticking close to home this weekend unless we go visit Evander but he's just down the road. If we get to go, I'll have lots of picture of him and Fritzie to share.
Love, kisses and huggies to all.
PS...the Mommy says if you think we should stop sharing DROH dog stories with you just let us know and the Mommy will stop.

Hi Mona
I'm glad DROH is around to help doxies. How cruel some humans can be.
When I first saw the picture of Toby, I thought it was me. We look so much alike except for the fur. When I saw the ears, then I new it wasn't me.
I hope Toby & Sean find great homes soon.
Love Ruby

Poor Toby #4 and Sean. It makes The Girl cry the way that people treat animals. She knows just how the Mommy feels - make the humans know the reality of the suffering they visit upon the animals! Sean's little spine was so pronounced, it gave us shivers.

We don't want you to stop sharing DROH stories. Yes, they make The Girl cry and get very angry. But you also share the happy stories, which makes The Girl cry and be so happy. And it is important that these doggies get their stories shared. Keep posting, the Mommy.
