THE BEST HALLOWIENER EVER!!!

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him, and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself, too. --- Samuel Butler

Hi my dear friends,

Yesterday when we got to the Halloweiner party the first thing I saw was a bunch of scary bloodshot eyes staring back me and then I almost ran into this

scary skelton thingie hanging in this tree and waving at me. I was very scared!!

But then the Mommy told me they was nothing to be afraid off because it was all make believe, so don't be afraid of any spooks or goblins you see in these pictures.

As you can see in the next picture, I got over my fear very quickly when I saw so many of my friends. Everybody says I am always sad looking but it's just that I'm not very photogenic. The Mommy said the smile on my face is priceless. I was smiling because I got to see my former foster Mommy, Shelley, and my Uncle Ron. But mainly I was so happy because the Mommy was so very happy because we saw my brother, TOBY, for the first time in a almost a year. The Mommy saw him come in and started crying. He came right up to her and tried to climb up in her lap and started drowning her in kisses. She was so worried he won't remember her. What a silly Mommy!!! Of course, when I saw him, I had to jump into the Mommy's lap too. What a wonderful reunion the 3 of us had but the best was still to come. His new Mommy, Daddy, 2 brothers and sister made us feel so good because it was obvious they love my brother as much as we do. They even talked the Mommy for a long time, while Toby and I visited some of his old doggie friends. Then they invited us to come over and visit with Toby and them so he and I can play together sometime. Sorry I don't have any pictures of Toby, but the Doofuss's camera battery had died....after taking a couple hundred pictures. Don't worry my Uncle Ron took a bunch of Toby that we will post later. The Mommy says all the guilt she felt about giving up my brothers is now gone because they all have such wonderful homes, much better than she ever gave them.

Before we go any further, here is a closeup of me. I was a ballerina.

The whole idea of this Halloween Party is that it one of the two official fundraisers that we have every year. This is where we raise most of money it takes to care for the many homeless dachshunds that DACHSHUND RESCUE OF HOUSTON saves from the streets, shelters and anywhere else they are found. A dachshund is never turned away, even if it sick or we are broke, DROH will find a way. For the last 3 years, the Bernard Foundation, has donated 10,000.00 every year at Halloween to DROH and hosted the party at the Bernard home. That is Cindy Bernard on the left. She and her husband, John, adopted to long hairs from DROH so this is very special & dear to their hearts.

Times are tough right now with the price of gas, the aftermath of Hurricane Ike and the struggling to rebuild what he blew down and the economy we are really going to have to really get busy to match the foundation's pledge. If we can match it the foundation will give us another 10,000.00. Can you imagine what DROH cam do with a total of 30,000.00. The only thing is we only have until Dec 31 to raise the funds.

This year to make it a little more fun, besides the silent auction we always have at the Halloweiner party, John and Cindy, had a 2008 Halloween Challenge where you could donate $50, $100, $250 or $500 right then and there. I'm a Precocious Pumpkin because the Mommy donated $100 in me and Samantha's name.

The Mommy says she is not to proud to beg, if you'd like your Mommies and Daddies to donate something in your names DROH would not turn it down. One of the officers of board with DROH thanked the Mommy for two recent donations that had been made by two of our DWB family and said they had heard about them from my blog. I don't know who you are GOD BLESS YOU!!

Now for what you came to see. Hope ya don't get to bored......the Mommy gets carried away when it comes to doggies.

A wirehair--he came as woolly sheep--just a joke...heehee...he really looks like that. His Daddy said he wouldn't keep his sheep costume on.
