NOVEMBER 2014 ADOPTIONS

Thank you Dear Lord for helping us find our forever homes in time for the holidays and we pray that our fellow rescue dogs are as lucky as we were. We know that more than 50 were adopted during December to close out the year.

BTW
The total count for ATDR adoptions for Nov.
was 15 dachshunds but we think the correct adoption total credited to them should be 16. Here is the story.

Sweet and beautiful Rose was found in Rosehill, TX crossing a busy street with a Pitbull companion!  A great rescue patron was able to grab both and check the vet for microchips and arrange for vetting as well as a foster home for both!
.
Yep the pittie got adopted too!!

Adopted: November 15, 2014
Color: Dilute Red Wire
8 Years 5 Months (best estimate)

Klaus's story........

Klaus Von Schnippen was surrendered to ATDR with two other AKC breeding dogs from a central Texas breeding establishment.  He has not had the best life and we have promised him that life is going to get much better from this day forward!

Klaus is a  beautiful dilute red wirehaired male that is very sweet and somewhat shy but great with people and seems to like other dogs!  He is great on a leash and drum rolll.....housetrained!!!  He longs to be kissed and cuddled and thinks that this is the best part of the bargain!  He seems to be ok with kids, perhaps older kids would be best but we will be introducing him to all kinds of new things in his foster home!  Klaus is a loving and deserving boy that has a lot of life and love to give!  Please consider this handsome little guy for a forever home!

Adopted 11/01/14

From Cowboy's new family:

Cowboy has adjusted to us! He sleeps under the blanket with my son at night. We have him eating a vegetarian dog food because of his allergies. He really likes the food. We took him to PetCo and went crazy for their toys. We are keeping his name "Cowboy". He is so sweet and gets along with Jimbo. I am waiting for a nice sunny day to take some photos of Cowboy outside. We are spoiling him with toys, he has his own bed, and he has a mesh harness for walks. He loves riding in my car. Thank you for everything you have done for Cowboy. He is the best!!

Pepper Rally"Opus"Adopted 11/05/14

                         From Opus's new family:

Pepper, who we have renamed Opus, has been great! He is such a little character and does the silliest things that just make us laugh all the time. He is such a sweet dog who prefers to sleep cuddled up with us at night to sleeping in his dog bed. He has also been getting along great with his new companion, Chopper. The two play tug of war with their toys and run around the yard together all the time. Opus may be the smaller dog but he is pretty strong and normally always wins the tug of war. We have been following the Vet's recommendations with his feeding and walks so he is looking great! I believe he is down to almost 15 pounds now. Opus loves to walk and even run sometimes on our walks around the neighborhood. He has also been enjoying laying in the sun as often as possible in his new backyard. He has been a joy so far!

We love our little dachsie and we appreciate everything that DREAM has done for these little dogs!

(adopted along with Briscoe)

From Munch and Briscoe's new family:

I wanted to update you on how our new babies have adjusted to being in their new home.

Mom and Dad could not be any happier or more proud of how wonderful they have settled down into our new life. They hit it off instantly in the car and have been fast brothers since they chose us that day.

We did change the names of our new family members. Briscoe (formally Bruno) and Munch (formally Scotty) have now taken over the whole apartment and have decided that it's ok if we live here with them. They have full run of the large patio and spend the warm days we have had going in and out to check to make sure it's still out there. They decided they only need one bed in the living room as Briscoe prefers to sit on the couch when not playing. Munch has learned his barky voice and lets me know when he wants up since he is still to small just up there.

The first night they slept in the bed with us because they were not having anything to do with sleeping in the kitchen where they were gated. Since the bed is so high we introduced the crate and they decided that they only needed one of those too. They sleep quietly until Mom wakes in the morning.

They have 2 modes on/fast and off; there is no middle ground for either one. Even with a million toys they have managed to find things I've missed when cleaning up. Today they discovered "behind the couch".

We are so thrilled to have found Dreams and our new babies! I take a ton of pictures everyday but it never fails it's either of them sleeping or they move so fast you don't get a good head shot.

Sometimes it's so hard to imagine how or why all these beautiful weenie pups ended up in a rescue. But thank goodness they've found their forever homes.
