Lovie Needs Our Help
"Dachshund down"..... the words a dachshund owner fears most..... Little Lovie ended up at a local shelter with limited used of her hind legs. The shelter had no choice but to put this precious 4 year old girl on the euthanasia list. OR find a rescue group to take her. That was Lovie's only chance - find a rescue group that would step up and help her. DRoH was contacted by the shelter and the race was on. First to find a foster who could deal with a special needs dachshund. DRoH's wonderful fosters raised their hands - we have a foster and a relief foster set up for her. Now comes the hard part -- we don't know how long she has been "down" or the extent of the damage to her spine. She will rest overnight at our vet and will go to a specialist as soon as possible. Lovie will need your help. Donations, small or large are appreciated. Look at this sweet 4 year old girl's eyes -- we couldn't say 'no'.... Can you help DRoH help her?
DROH has made the decision to save this girl and she will get the best vetting available. Please consider donating to help offset the cost of her treatment and keep DROH ready to save the next one!

Just as we were ready hit that send button, we have a "Lovie Update":
Although she is permanently paralyzed, Lovie has a great dachshund can-do attitude that is going to get her far. She would like to thank everyone with her first tail wag in days. Yes - this girl has wagged her tail! She has some mobility in her right rear leg and some bladder and bowel control. She will be kept active to see what she can do on her own. Her life will be evolving over the next 6 to 12 months as she goes through different courses of therapy: acupuncture, water therapy, cart work and general movement. She has a much more positive prognosis than originally expected and she can't help but think it's all the positive thoughts, paw prayers, and donations already sent her way. Tail wags of thanks to all!
Please help if you can.............Mona, Prissy & the Mommy too.

GO LOVIE...Mommy's Doxie before me whose name was Ginger became paralyzed at age 4. She lived a great life as a paralyzed pup for over 11 years. She didn't know she was paralyzed and learned to "seal walk" and got around just fine. No carts for her because she moved too fast and spinning around would just tip her over in a cart. So she became a "seal weenie" with a very strong "front end" to pull herself around. And she could "run" just as fast as the others. :)
Good luck to you, Lovie. We have our paws all crossed for you. We'll check the donation sight later this week.
You bet we will pray fur dis sweet gurl!

OMD OMD She WAGGED??? THAT is a very VERY good sign.
Oh dear me does this mean her un-owners gave her up because she was sick? If so, that makes us so mad and one day that unkind act will bite them in the butts. Very very encouraging that she wagged her tail though. Maybe just maybe it is a pinched nerve and TLC will work wonders
Hugs madi your bfff
