ANGEL TAG, JANUARY ADOPTIONS AND A MESSAGE FOR AMBER

Quotes of the day:

"There is no faith which has never yet been broken,
except that of a truly faithful dog."
-- Konrad Lorenz

This post is dedicated to one of ATDR's seniors, Tag,
who left us yesterday for the bridge.

 "If you have a dog, you will most likely outlive it;
to get a dog is to open yourself to profound joy and,
prospectively, to equally profound sadness."

--- Marjorie Garber

Dearest friends,

It was with great sadness that we found out this morning that Tag has crossed the bridge. If you remember we profiled him on our 1/13/13 post and the following was taken from that post.

This is Tag. He is Jennifer and her parents' forever foster. He was adopted once but the lady that adopted him couldn't take care of herself much less Tag, so he came back to ATDR. He was a senior, at 10, we think, when he came into rescue for the first time. He has been with Jennifer and her family 5 years now and will be with them until he leaves for the bridge. He is now at least 15 years old, again we think. He can't hear anymore, is almost blind, is always cold and incontinent so he wears a belly band. He is a vital part of their family and loved by all. February is Senior Adoption Month at ATDR.  Seniors are special, I know, Weenie was 10 when I adopted him and I haven't regretted a minute of it. I will be doing ATDR's December adoptions soon. We adopted out 21 precious dogs last month.

Tag never got his forever home but he was loved and he will be missed and now he is at the bridge running and playing with all the other seniors who never found their forever homes. We will never, ever stop trying to find our seniors homes. We only had 11 adoptions during January and one senior found his.

 JANUARY ADOPTIONS:

Name: Lucy
 Rescue ID: D120096

Species: Dog
Breed: Dachshund / Mixed

Sex: Female (spayed)

Current Age: 1 Year 10 Months (best estimate)

Activity Level: Moderately Active

Good with Dogs: Yes

Good with Kids: Yes

 Description:

Meet Lucy! This sweet girl was picked up as a stray and taken to BARC, where she was listed as a dachshund. When one of our ATDR volunteers went to visit her, it was clear she was not a dachshund. However, it was clear that Lucy was terrified and needed a second chance. Since Lucy has left BARC, she has become a new dog!! She loves walks, treats, belly rubs and trips to the park. She does well with both big and small dogs -- she loves to be chased! Lucy would love a big yard or a forever home with children to play with or an active owner. She would love to be your loyal companion. Lucy has been successfully treated for heart worms, spayed, micro chipped and is up to date on shots/flea & heart worm preventative. She also came potty trained. :) Lucy is around 20-25 pounds and probably between 1 and 2 years old. Look into those eyes.....how can you resist?

"Looks like someone couldn't resit those eyes."

Yahoo -- 4 days to go in February and 13 doggies have walked away with their forever families.
