TAKE THAT MICHAEL VICK

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"It's not the dogs fault, it's the humans"

Hands off peeps, all  leftovers are ours.

Hi friends,

Last night Mommy was thinking about Miss Shelby. She does all the time and and the tears still come when she thinks about what all our sweet girl went through before she was rescued. In less than a month she and the rest of the Fearless Five will have been gone a year. It is going to be a hard Christmas for all of us. That's why the following story hit so hard. Our quote of the day says it all, "It's not the dogs fault, it's the humans".  Even 5 years later, Mommy still fumes when she thinks about Michael Vick and is still ashamed of the NFL, that he was ever allowed back into football. GOD doesn't forget. He'll get his in the long run.

Here is the story..................

Five years ago, the Pit Bull advocacy group BAD RAP left Virginia with 10 of Michael Vick's dogs "secreted" in the back of its RV, according to ABC News. The group had worked with prosecutors on the case to identify which dogs could be rehabilitated.
All of them went to good homes, and all are doing well. Last month, seven of the dogs were reunited for a photo shoot and a celebration.

Do you know how hard it is to get seven dogs to pose for a picture?
They have a lot to celebrate. If there was any question in the public's mind that Vick's abused dogs -- trained to fight -- could not only be rehabilitated but turned into loving, happy dogs, it's gone.
All seven have Canine Good Citizen Certificates. Three work as therapy dogs in hospitals and children’s literacy programs. One, Jonny Justice, appeared on the Rachel Ray Show and won GUND's Top Dog contest -- his likeness will soon show up as one of GUND's famous stuffed dogs.
“They’re very forgiving, and they all really enjoy other dogs, which is probably the other big surprise that came out of the case,” said Donna Reynolds, director of BAD RAP. “In fact, dogs were a comfort to them.”
“Dogs live in the moment; they don’t dwell on the past,” she continued. “Once they have enough positive experiences to draw on, they just run right into the present.”

We love these dogs.
And the present is a fun place. At the reunion, the dogs had the time of their lives -- what dog wouldn't, surrounded by a pack of well-adjusted, happy dogs, all of whom happened to look a lot alike?
“There were lots of hugs, kisses, lots of crying. When people meet these dogs, they cry,” Reynolds said. “They understand that they are little pieces of positive history.”
The only one who had trouble was the photographer, Mark Rogers. Imagine trying to wrangle seven wiggly dogs and their adopters to one good picture.
Actually, you don't have to imagine it. Watch the wiggly wiggliness of the photo shoot right here:

Hi Mona and Weenie,
We know that hate is a BIG word, but we just gotta say we HATE Michael Vick. We too agree that the NFL is a Big Mac short of a Happy Meal. Unfortunately they only care about making money so they let him play again. Shame, shame, shame, tisk, tisk, tisk!!!

We are thankful in life for anyone who handles and deals with rescue dog's. We just can't imagine the emotions involved. We LOVE people with BIG hearts!!!

We are very thankful too that this story had a happy ending for all those puppers.

This Thanksgiving day, we will be counting our many blessings in life.

Thanks for sharing a story that had a happy ending.

Hugs,
Lily Belle & Muffin

Thank you for your story...we agrees with you on the word HATE and we are also ashamed that m. vick didn't get a much harder sentence...mom said the day she went into the puppy mill and brought me home was the saddest and happiest day of her life.

She said she never ever knew the things that animals went through living there nor did she know the forgiveness we have in our hearts as soon as someone treats us with love.

I am sure there is a life lesson that can be learned from any animal that has gone from terrible situations an still have a forgiving heart. We thinks animals should rule the world cos some humans would be in big big trouble!!

Thank you for this beautiful post. Dogs can be so forgiving.

We also think of the Fearless Five often. And now we have "Little Shelby" living right at our house. I think about Shelby every time I call Little Shelby.

Was Shelby in the picture too?

Poor little sweeties. Pitties are Sweeties. Why would someone think otherwise? I'm glad all of them have succeeded into turning their lives around.

Anyway, we just dropped by to say hi.

Huggies and Cheese,

It's sad that if your are a sportsperson....all is forgiven (by some).

We're happy those pups could find out what a dog's life is supposed to be.

XXXOOO Daisy, bella & roxy

Sometimes SHE says it's OUR fault. We're going to show HER that quote.
