"If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude,
then animals are better off than a lot of humans.
~~ James Herriot"

Welcome to day 10 of the most fantastic Olympic Games of all time. It has been so exciting and a feat in itself to get the the Games on time for each event. My goodness we've never seen crowds like this before. We heard that ASTA was taking folks to the events on her Vespa since she can zip in and out of traffic.

Well WEENIE has an announcement for all the young ladies needing a lift to the events. As soon as he is finished completing in the Equestrian competition, he is willing to fly them to the stadium on his Magic Bumble Bee that he is riding at the event.

There is NO fee for this service BUT a small tip of a kiss from the ladies would be accepted.

Mona brother has become something of a player it seems. Today he gave me a list of the ladies he hopes will want to use his services.......Mindy, Amber, Shelby, Millie, Lorenza,, Matilda, Puddles, Mina Krebs, Pickles, Lily Belle, Muffin.....need I go on?

Any way, let's get down to today's action.

"What? Did you say something Mommy."

"Yes my sweet Mona, I did want to say something that has been bothering me for quite a while about stupid people that die from their actions or kill innocent people and sometimes dogs, but let's wait until you & Weenie finish your post."

OK Mommy but don't cry this is supposed to be a fun time right now!!

See y'all at the stadium.

The Mommy here......

This last week has been a very sad time for me. A dear friend  and fellow co-worker was found dead in his apartment. He was only 35 years old, young enough to be my son and I treated him as if he was. I loved him, what more can I say. As most of you know, I have two very good friends, one a lot of you know as Aunt Judy and the other as Miss Mimi, Scout and Freyla's Mom. They both e-mail me a lot of stuff that they know will interest me, mostly funny things but the other day I got one that saddened me and made me very angry that these things can happen. It made me think of my friend Jorge who just died. His nephew was killed in an auto accident 2 years ago and it was because the driver was texting and drove over a railroad track as a train was barreling through. All 4 of the young men in the car were killed, all of them 18 years old. Jorge was never the same after that. He was brokenhearted. When I saw this picture it hurt and made me remember that day.
You might need to blow the picture up to read what it says bit I will translate for you.
They found his cell phone still in his hand.
His head was in the back seat.

Please, don't let anyone you love or yourself drive and text.
It's against the law in Texas, but kids still die.

God Bless.............the Mommy

My humans DO NOT text and drive.

If there's room for me on the magic bumble bee, I'll hitch a ride!

I'm so sorry for your losses.

That bumble bee is cute! My boys would love to hitch a ride. But yeah, they're boys. So I guess they'll fight the traffic on their own.

I agree about texting and driving. It's illegal here now too, but people still do it.

Terrible losses. Why oh why do the humans text and drive?
I may not be a lady dog but I think I would tip very well for a ride.

Oh Weenie...I'd love to ride with you on your magic bumble bee! Can we take the long way back???

Texting scares the heck out of Momma. In fact, her phone doesn't have a texting feature. But she worries about others who are texting.

After reading your post, we just put in a call to Weenie for a ride on the bee! I'll keep this short as I have to run and get my lipstick and Muffin needs to powder her nose.

We're so sorry to hear about your friend Jorge! He was so very young. We will say a prayer for the both of you.

We couldn't agree with you more ~ DO NOT TEXT AND DRIVE! Five years ago (June 26th) we lost five beautiful young ladies from our community who just graduated from high school. The driver was texting and driving and on a dark, back country road, drove right into the path of an oncoming semi truck. Well respected girls were gone in a heart beat. The driver emotionally is scarred for life! They are now known as the Fairport Five Angels. ALL BECAUSE OF THE NEED TO TEXT! Wake up people... This could have been avoided!

Thanks Mona, Weenie and Mommy for this important word of advice.

Again, we're sorry to hear about Jorge.

Our peeps won't even talk on the phone, let along waste time texting, and we are proud of them. Dads so behind times his device is only a phone with texted turned off!!

Thanks for the words!!!!

It is also against the law here to text and drive. What an awful thing. Mom has noticed many commercials about how dangerous it is. Very very sad. People seem to be more and more distracted which is scary for all of us!
We'll take a ride on the bumble bee!

Ooo, I would love to hitch a ride! Now, I'm still on a diet, do you think your bee can hold my weight? I better loose a couple of more, and hitch a ride on the next flight.

I'm so sorry about your friends. That is just horriable. Never text and drive people!! If you do, I will come over and drool all over ya!

I am so sorry about Jorge. I know your heart is hurting. And it is terrible for senseless things to happen- such things as texting.
Friends are so precious.. and I know you wish we can make the sick ones all better,, and we wish we can keep all our friends safe too.
