OLYMPIC EVENTS AUG 4 & A SWEET BABY GIRL NEEDS HELP

  QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"One shouldn't be afraid to lose; this is sport. One day you win; another day you lose. Of course, everyone wants to be the best. This is normal. This is what sport is about. This is why I love it."
~~ Oksana Baiul, Olympic Gold Medalist

The Mommy here.......

As many of you know Mona was adopted from
DACHSHUND RESCUE OF HOUSTON
and Weenie from
ALL TEXAS DACHSHUND RESCUE.
Both rescue groups have my heart and are my life and if it weren't for them I wouldn't have my previous little ones with me today. My greatest joy in the last several years has been doing home visits for ATDR and volunteering with both groups at every event we have. I say "We" because once rescue gets under you skin, there is no way out but who would ever want to leave it.
They are your family and that family keeps growing. There is a never ending supply of animals that need rescuing.
All rescue groups have a constant struggle to raise funds to help little ones that need medical care. I read about one little girl who needs help over at Casey's blog.

Meet Napoli
 Copied from Casey's blog
She's 3.5 months old. She was given away for free by her breeder to someone who was adopting her sister (now LBR foster Bambi) because she "wasn't healthy". The owner realized she was in over her head and surrendered Bambi and Napoli to LBR. But Napoli is a sick little pup. The original diagnosis was hydrocephalus, which is basically water on your brain. I don't know how it gets there, but this is why I hate baths!! Our vets recommended she see a neurologist, so she did, and he isn't sure if it's hydrocephalus or another disorder in a different part of her brain. Whew, that's all pretty technical! But basically it means that she has to have an MRI just to know what's wrong, then we start fixing it.

All of that costs lots and lots of green papers! The MRI is estimated at $2300-3000, ouch. And that's just to find out what's wrong! This is on top of the two leg surgeries we've had to do for LBR fosters Brielle and Melody, at $1700-2300. LBR is trying to raise money to take care of all the doggies in our care who just want a chance at a normal life and furever family of their very own.

Napoli is dreaming of growing into a big girl with her own furever family!
Won't you help her reach her dream?

See ya at the games.
Just us Texas Dachsies

PS.........The Mommy here.........If it weren't for the Olympics, Mona and Weenie would be grounded. This is what I found when I got home from work last night.

Oh goodness... Poor Napoli. Our heart breaks for this beautiful little girl. We will keep our paws crossed for her.

I don't think you should blame Mona and Weenie for the mess. I think a sneaky little gnome named Norman did it. You can check with Molly the Wally about that issue!

Hugs,
Lily Belle

Oh those nasty tree rats broke in again. What will you ever do about that???

Sending some POTP in those sweeties' direction. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Thank you so much for sharing the word about our campaign to help little Napoli! I have an update on her that I'm posting tomorrow. We're doing really good, but we have a ways to go to reach our goal!
