Hi friends,
Mona Mi and Cakie Head here, or as I would rather be called, Do Do Head, with a health report on our Mommy and to let you know we might not be posting much this week.
Our Mommy is a wreak. Her insurance won't pay for her insulin, Humanlin 70/30, amymore so three weeks ago her doctor changed it to Levemir and it ain't working. They haven't found the right dosage and she keeps getting reading over 300. So they keep increasing the dosage. Poor Mommy is tired all the time and frustrated too!

Today she went to the Orthopedic doctor about her knees, hip and her lower back. He gave her 2 steroid shots, one in each knee but he wouldn't do any x-rays of her lower back or hip cause he said she needs an MRI. He thinks the hip problem has to do with her back. After the MRI he will do a hip x-ray if needed. She's got  Old-Arthur-rities, that follows her everywhere she goes, plus pinched nerves and NO cartilage between some of her discs. He says she needs knee replacements but she is fighting it. She's also gonna have to have a test on her left hand that's always hurting but he don' think it's carpal tunnel.
So Thursday she's gonna have the MRI.

Please send some good vibes and Power of the Paw for the old lady. She had back surgery in 1974 and that's when Old-Arthur-rities started following her night and day, so she don't want NO SURGERY!!

Sniff ya later......Do Do Head, aka Cakie Head for this week only.

I hope your mom does well on her tests. I recommend the knee replacements highly. Both of my parents have had theirs done (my mom had both hers done last year and dad had one done a few years ago) and it makes a huge difference. My mom is no longer in pain every day with her knees.

Also I am sure surgery for backs has come a long way since 1974. I know having these surgeries wouldn't be easy, but they might make you feel a lot better.

We'll keep our paws, fingers and wings crossed for your Mommy. That arthur-i-tis can be a terrible thing. Shame on that insurance company not covering her medicine. We hope the other meds start kicking in. Tell your mommy to hang in there.

Mona Mi and Cake Head, Mommy and I can totally relate to this. Daddy is a diabetic and uses Humalin, our insurance covers only a very small part of it and it is expensive, as you know. He had a kidney transplant so the doctors insist he stay on Humalin so we have to pay it. Insurance really stinks sometimes. I am crossing paws and Mommy is praying for your Mommy. We want her to get better. My Mommy has spinal stenosis so she understands that part also. Good luck and we are sending lots of magic bubbles filled with love and hope.

I definitely feel for your mama with the insurance woes! I've had a lot of problems w/ several insurance companies in the past, so I can emphasize with what she's going through.

I have a bad hip too. I was supposed to get an MRI but my insurance (through work, which I clearly didn't research!) wouldn't pay for it because I hadn't met my $2500 annual deductible. The MRI itself would have been about $3000, so the insurance would have covered very little of it, the rest would have to come out of my own pocket. I was already having to pay for physical therapy from the year before (over $3000 for 6 weeks, and the insurance paid less than 10%) so I couldn't afford that.

I hope the drs. figure out her meds soon and that she gets to feeling better.

Don't furgets to email your info for the Doggone Dog Swap if you're still interested!
