Rained Out & Their Back

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"Flowers are those little colorful beacons of the sun from which we get sunshine when dark, somber skies blanket our thoughts."

TEXAS BLUE BONNETS & INDIAN PAINT BRUSHES" 2011

Hi dearest friends,

Do you remember this picture?

It was taken almost a year ago on our last trip to the country to visit Dachsies Rule. That was on Memorial Day weekend. We was all ready to make a day trip today with Aunt Tina, Chris and their 2 girl dogs but this stupid Texas weather stopped us. Here in Texas, we had a drought all summer long and forrest fires everywhere and didn't go to the country at all and now this. It has been raining and or storming all day for the last 3 days and is supposed to rain all weekend. Dang It!! So now we'll just stay home and try not to get wet. We are very disappointed. We was gonna teach Baby Girl and Hoppy how to chase cowdogs and between 8 doxies and one pit/lab mix maybe bring down one of them. Of course we was only gonna play with it not eat it. NOT!

So, anyway, we gotta tell ya what happened earlier this week. Mona keep trying to tell Mommy to start listening when we are trying to tell her something but sometimes she just don't listen. Point in fact......remember the tree that fell on the house?

THEIR's back!!!

Mommy bought a heavy duty garbage can she thinks I, Weenie, can't get into or knock over. So far I've not been able to get in it. That sucker is too heavy.

For the last few days we have been hearing noises coming from the kitchen and Mona kept going in there sniffing around and scratching at the cabinet doors. Mommy had been checking the kitchen out but never saw anything but heard what sounded like mice scampering around.

You know we have mice, right. Well that morning Mona was very frantic and the noises was very loud. Mommy still couldn't see any mice. The house keeper was coming and Mommy was moving me and Mona's water bowl to the spare room where were we stay until the housekeeper gets finished. It sits on a pee pad. So Mommy was going to throw it in the old garbage can that didn't have anything in it, she thought, that was sitting on a step stool. She looked down and screamed but didn't faint, thank goodness or we would never have been able to get her up. There were 2 mice in it trying to get out, with a half eaten jalapeño pepper in a sandwich bag, the only other thing in the can. They kept trying to get out, getting higher & higher each time they jumped. Guess they had nothing to grab on to since the sides were smooth. God only knows how long they had been in there and Mona had been trying to alert Mommy for days. You would have thought eating a flaming hot pepper would have killed then. So after Mommy's heart stopped pounding and she had recoverd from the shock, she picked the garbage can up with two fingers on the rim, took it outside and dumped them in the big dumpster that has a lid on top that you just flop up. Hope they can't get out.

So now we have a new mouse trap and all we need is another jalapeño pepper in it. Lot cheaper than buying glue mouse traps, don't ya think?

The Mommy here.......

if it had been 30 years ago, I would have passed out for sure, but it just doesn't bother me any more, contrary to what Weenie claims. The thing that bothers me is that they were 2 adult mice, where there are adults there are babies. Now I just need to hope they don't jump out at me when I add more trash to the dumpster. Monday is garbage day so I'll find out soon enough.

That's all for now. Mommy got this picture from Aunt Judy last night. It's Mommy's heart, George, and Harley, on the left. She never misses a chance to show him off.

Sniff ya later..........Weenie

To The Mommy,

I've got to say, I'm a bit surprised you would set a mouse trap. Mice are so cute!! Just ask Cinderella. I think you should have set the mice free outside and wished them a nice life. They have feelings too!

Love, Cupcake

Seeing those things scurrying around the house sure can get the blood pumping. Living in a country setting we have lots of mice living in our basement every winter and have to "deal" with them. I'm glad I have a husband for that ;-)

BWHahahahah....well, at least they weren't......big squirrels!

I haven't been around many blogs today because I'm still busy playing nurse to Mommy who still has the sickies. Hope her gets better soon or else me will have to learn how to type!

OH MY GOODNESS! You need to sniff those mice out and EXTERMINATE THEM. If you need lessons, let me know. I catch them in the yard sometimes...they might be shrews but those and moles are my speciality.

PS. Your Mommy is VERY BRAVE! Did she scream or anything?

xoxo,

Nora

Oh how I love huntin mice and voles. So far I don't have any mice in the house. But at church the voles seem to be everywhere outside. But I am on the job and the numbers are going down.
