Happy 10th birthday, My little fella

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"I believe that tears can heal,
that memories can comfort,
that love lives on forever"

Dear friends,

Today is my little fella's 10th Birthday. We know it's his birthday because "his family" that dumped him at a kill shelter, just becuase he was going blind, brought his records with them. I will not go into detail how much I loath these people except to say that had they not dumped him, I wouldn't have such a loving little boy in my lfe now.

Weenie has brought so much joy into mine & Mona's lives. He is always on my lap or shoulder, stuck to me like a piece of Velcro. Always wanting to be with his Mommy or cuddled with his sister if I'n not available.

I want to share a poem with you that Amber DeWeenie's Mom, Linda, sent me last year with note that said.....

"Back when our beloved Min Pin, Serena, who was in congestive heart failure and also had bone cancer, lost her sight 8 months before she crossed the bridge, someone sent this poem to me. When I saw Weenie this morning in Mona's video and read that your sister wasn't all that excited when you fostered and adopted a "blind dog", I thought about my Serena and this poem. I changed the "her" references to "him" and it just fits Weenie now."

The poem:

I cannot see you Mommy, when you cuddle me so near.
And yet I know you love me. It's in the words I hear.

I cannot see you Daddy, when you hold me by your side.
But still I know you love me when you tell me so with pride.

I cannot see to run and play out in the sun so bright.
For here inside my tiny head, it's always dark as night.

I cannot see the treats you give when I am extra good.
But I can wag my tail in Thanks--Just like a good dog should.

"He cannot see. The dog’s no good" is what some folks might say.
"He can't be trained, he'll never learn--He must be put away."

But not you, Mom and Daddy. You know that it's all right.
Because I love you just as much as any dog with sight.

You took me in, you gave me love, and we will never part.
Because I'm blind with just my eyes, and I see you in my HEART.

Lots of Love From your Blind Dogs

Nothing more needs to be said, except Weenie, I love you with all my heart..........your Mommy

That's a most awesome poem! We knew a girl dog named Gypsy, she lived to the ripe old age of 23 and she was blind, deaf and had only one toofer! Everyone that met her loved her lots and lots and we can't imagine giving up a doggie just because they couldn't see!

Hope you have the best barkday ever!

It's not only the eyes that see! You're a wonderful woman and Weenie is a lucky little guy.

I can't stand people who forget The Deal: Through Thick and Thin. When things start to get bad, they walk away. Well, some day, those tables might just turn, then they'll get a taste of their own medicine. I sure hope they don't, but if they do, well...

Happy Birthday, Handsome Weenie!
