A WHOLE BUNCH OF WIENERS AND THE PEOPLE THAT LOVE THEM

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

(courtesy of Jazzie)

"I am only ONE, but I am ONE.

I cannot DO EVERYTHING, but I can DO SOMETHING.

I will not let what I CANNOT DO interfere with what I CAN DO."

(Jazzie & her sister Dixie playing in the snow)

Hi dearest friends,

I had a wonderful Gotcha Day celebration yesterday. What a better way to spend it than with family, doggie friends and the people that love us. Everybody was so excited to meet my new brother and let me tell you it was love at first sight, but who wouldn't love a face like his. Mommy took this picture of us going over to Aunt Judy's house. We kinda look like twins, now don't we?

Before we show you the pictures of our friends, Weenie wants to tell you what happened while we was at the groomer.

Weenie here.........First off, let me respond to a comment somebody left about me being a bad boy before me and Sissy went to the groomer. The comment was "Were you really bad or was Mona exaggerating. Yep!! I was bad. I had good reason to as it turned out. I'll let my Mommy tell you what happened and let me say right now that "I love Miss Lilly just as much as Sissy does!"

The Mommy here........Before I took the kids to the groomer, I called Lilly, and asked her if there would be a problem with working on a blind dog and she said, certainly not and she would take good care of him. She told me to tell the intake person, that Weenie was blind and to put his intake ticket on his crate saying BLIND in beg red letters. I asked if he could go in the same crate as Mona but she said it was against company policy but that she would put them next to each other so he would be able to at least smell her. I took his blankie with my scent & Mona's on it. He loves his blankie. So when I dropped them off at 7 am, he attendant knew exactly what he was to do. I cried all the way to work because my little man was crying and whining and I just felt like taking him back home.

I know I'm paranoid, I just can't help myself, so I called at 8 am to see how he was and I could still hear him whining. The attendant said he would be fine, they all cut up like that. I asked him to have Lilly call me when she was ready to start cutting Mona's hair. At 9 am, she called saying that she was very upset when she got in at the intake person. She heard Weenie crying and whimpering and she knew something was terribly wrong. That's when the poo poo (much nicer than the "S" word) hit the fan!

Weenie was on one side of the room and Mona was on the other. Lilly takes great pride in her work and takes excellent care of her charges. She went off on the person that separated them. He said, and I quote, "Well he can see her." That was not the thing to say to Lilly. "He's the blind one, you idiot!"

Needless to say, things went lots better after that and his crate got moved next to Mona's real quick. Lilly fell in love with him and said they are quite the pair. So my little fella's first trip to the groomer wasn't the best experience. I bet it'll never happen again, if Lilly has anything to do with it.

Mona here.....

OK, now let me start with my Gotcha Day. Of course the ladies and the human kids, had lunch at a new place Aunt Judy found called the "Cafe Under the Oaks". It's a quaint little place among oak trees that are over 100 years old. It has home made food and they make their own bread. Mommy had a Pimento cheese (also homemade) bacon burger on wheat berry bread and onion rings. She said it was Yummlicious.

Here is a group picture of the usual gang of peeps. As you can see, nobody is holding their own doggie, except Aunt Judy (shes got me, Bandit and Brooklyn). Mommy's got Peanut Butter and Brinda's got Weenie.

This is Paula. She was taking the group picture. Brinda found this dachshund that everybody has been looking for in forever and gave it to Paula. Now everybody wants one.

Can you tell what we are all doing here? Following the treat lady, Brinda, of course. She never, ever forgets to bring us treats.

Weenie stayed close to me, but here Brinda gave him one, directly, so she could make sure he got one too.
Here we followed her onto the patio begging for more.

It used to be easy to tell who Harley was but now me, Weenie and Harley almost look like
triplets. Everybody keep getting confused. Paula had everybody laughing because she said about my brother: "Look at the little fella. He's so cute and he looks likes he can see me!" And Aunt Judy said: "He can see you, that's Harley!"

Here's how you tell. We all got different collars on. Mine is brown and has little white bones on it, Weenie's is blue with a little paw pendant hanging on it and Harley's is multicolored. This will be very important to remember because the 3 of us will be together at lot. Of course it won't take long for my wire hairs to grow back.

Mommy's heart George

Peanut Butter
(the new kid on the block)

Harley--not Weenie (told ya it was difficult)

Introducing the new kid on the block, Peanut Butter!!

The newest member of our gang is Brinda's foster, a wire hair like me with a Mohawk. He kinda looks like my honey, Tiger, and his hair is really coarse like Tiger's. Did ya notice before he was holding him in the group picture. Mommy!! He reminds Mommy of my brother Siskle.

Brinda has always wanted a wirehair and we don't think he'll be a foster for long

His new name is gonna Wilson, if Brinda adopts him.

OK....this next set of pictures are of me. My Aunt Judy gave me a deer antler. I love it!! I been working and working on it. It's all mine and I'm not gonna share it with anybody.

Licking my chops and taking a breather.

I had to stop. My jaws was hurting.

Before we went home, Mommy, Wennie and I went to the Petco in Pasadena where ATDR was having a adoption booth like they do once a month. Remember the little girl that was rescued on Mommy's birthday and was named after Mommy. She was gonna be there so that's why we went. Here she is with Mommy.

Mommy, Sarah, and Sarah Lee.

Mommy will have a SPECIAL post about Sarah Lee in the next day or two. She developed complications right after her rescue and two weeks ago had surgery on her back. It was very sad and she is on the road to recovery but may never walk again. We pray they doctors are wrong. Here surgery has been very expensive, over $4000.00 at last count. If you'd like to read her story please go to http://www.atdr.org/.

Gotta go now..........Love & {{{{huggies}}}}..........Mona & Weenie

What a fun day dat must of been.....Da Gotcha Day, not da grooming day. One of our packmates who is at da Bridge now was also blind during her last year wit us. It's amazing how well a blind pup can adapt.

Poor Sarah Lee, we hope she will be OK and will be able to walk. And poor Weenie - your mom was so smart to keep checking on him. We are so sorry he had to be so upset on his first visit. Hope the next one goes better.

And oh what a delightful gotcha day gathering. We have some deer antlers too, but we only get them if we go in our crates because everypup wants the one that another pup has:)

Have a great week.

That looks like a fantastical gotcha day pawty!! I'm so glad you both had such a good time! And a deer antler to boot... wow!!!

BOL at Miss Lily's response to the check-in lady. Sheesh! When Ginger was with us, we got the craziest comments and reactions. I think because she adapted to her surroundings so well some two-leggers would FORGET she was blind. That would usually make mom M-A-D!!! But that's another story. Hehee..

Happy belated gotcha day!

What a full post! First, Happy Gotcha Day! Looks like you had a wonderful party and we hope you remembered to take your deer antler home with you.

We're so sorry Weenie's first visit to the groomer was so traumatic. We're sure it will be better from now on, not only because they will do better, but because it won't be new and scary and fear of abandonment time for him.

We will keep our paws crossed for little Sarah Lee. We sure wish her the best!
