OH NO!! INVADED BY WASPS

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"Don't let the fear of striking out hold you back.....every strike brings me closer to the next home run!" -- as said by Babe Ruth

Hi friends,

It has been a very quite weekend around the old homestead. Mommy wishes we could say that Saturday we watched butterflies flying around all day but that didn't happen because we was trapped inside by wasps. Watching wasps all over your front door is not the same thing as watching pretty butterflies.

Saturday Mommy went to the store and when she got back she saw wasps in the corner of our screen door on the porch. They was swarming around something that looked like a mound of clay. Mommy had to come into the house because we don't got no key to the patio door. She hurried inside and locked the screen door, but left the front door open so we could watch them. She called Roland and told him what happened. When he got to the house there was a swarm of them all over the screen door and around the porch light. He stood outside and hollered for us to stay in the house.

Remember our "beware of bugs" post. Well them wasps on my front door weren't cute like the one in this picture.

They was nasty looking, like this! I barked at them, through my front door and they started hissing at me!! "Mona, they were wasps not snakes."

Roland went and bought some kind spray that you can spray up to 10 feet away. He coated the whole screen door and both sides of the entrance. He told Mommy for us to stay inside for a couple of hours. He came back and there were dead wasps everywhere and one of these. OMD, there was one of these on the porch!!

Mommy was gonna take pictures of the wasps but Roland wouldn't let her. He said that's all he needed was for her to come outside and one or two still be alive. He said to leave the stuff on the door overnight and in the morning he would clean it up. By the time we got up this morning everything was already gone. Poor Mommy was traumatized so I let her sleep in a little this morning.

Guess what!! Mommy and I are gonna doggie sit a 7 year old dachshund named TAZ from 6/26 until 7/03. He has seizures and takes medicine for it twice a day but Mommy has to give me medicine twice a day, so it's no big deal. He hasn't had a seizure in a while so we hope for the best.

We didn't get to go to Aunt Judy's this weekend but you just gotta see ROXIE, a 4 month old puppy she was dog sitting overnight. At 4 months old she is bigger than Harley. They could almost be twins or maybe daughter & father.

ROXIE....look at the paws on this girl.

HARLEY on the left and ROXIE on the right.
Which is which..........even Bandit looks confused?

Believe it or not, Mommy got a video to load that Paula took of Roxie and Harley, but it was sideways so we hope it loaded right-side-up, if not you'll just have to crook your neck like Mommy did...........but first you gotta click on this link to hear the Wiener Dog Song:

Love, kisses and {{{hugs}}} to all........Mona

Oh my!! Bees!! Wasps at that!! Glad that Roland got them sprayed before they came after you. I got stung in the mouth twice last summer because I was chasing them. I had to go to the vet and mom drove me. (That's good because I don't know how to drive). I hope I've learned my lesson. We both love the doggies. The puppy has really big paws. Love the video too!! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly

I am so glad you were saved. Trapped in your own house by would-be invaders! We had one of those things that they built once, but it was in a bedroom window. As long as you didn't open the window it was mostly OK. It was better once it was gone, though.

pee ess: Roxie is going to be a giant doxie, looks like. That'll be interesting.
