HAPPY FATHER'S DAY PAPA RICCA & DADDYS EVERWHERE!!

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"The Greatest Gift I Ever Got?
I Got From GOD;
I Call Him DAD!

Hi dearest friends,

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads' still with us and those sitting in heaven next to a pond, under a shady tree, fishing with man's best friend by his side on this Father's day. Mommy says she knows that's what my Grandpa, Papa Ricca is doing right now with his beloved Fuzzy.

Of course, Mommy always has a special story that she remembers on certain days and of course she's just gotta share it with you and of course she cried this morning when she though of it but I'm kinda used to that now, so here goes.

Mommy here........It's a fishie kinda story. My Dad loved to cook and everything he cooked he called "Ala Dauba" as in Chicken Ala Dauba, Scrimp Ala Dauba and his speciality "Seafood Ala Dauba. So one Father's Day, Daddy decided he wanted to fix his own Father's Day feast. We always loved his Seafood Ala Douba, with crab, scrimp, oysters and sausage cooked in a red sauce and served over rice. He decided that was what he wanted to have. Well us girls loved to go crabbing, and Daddy loved to take us because he said it was like watching a barrel of monkeys and it gave him a chance to be alone with his girls. So that Saturday, Daddy piled my 3 sisters, me, two girl cousins and of course Fuzzy into the car to go crabbing.

Daddy would stop and buy chicken necks, everybody knows that's the best bait for crabbing, and find a spot along the San Luis Pass where a crazy man with 6 wild & wholly girls and one very protective dog would not bother anybody. Daddy would tie a chicken neck to a string and give each of us one. Then he would stand back and watch the mayhem. There is nothing like a hot summer afternoon, slipping and sliding on the rocks, with 6 chattering girls, ages 5 to 10, and a dog trying to HELP! Daddy would run back and forth with the net to get the crabs off the lines and throw them into a huge wash barrel Moma gave us to carry our catch.

He would always bring a picnic lunch of cheese, hard boiled eggs, salami, bread and apples along with a big jug of lemonade and a bag of ice for us when we'd get hungry in the middle of the day. Then he'd make us take a nap. He would bring sheets that he would spread on the ground between poles stuck into the ground so we would have shade. Then we'd all pile around him, while he told stories of the old country, Italy, until we'd fall asleep. Fuzzy would nap with us but she was never quite for long. That's when it happened!

Fuzzy decided she wanted somebody to play with and since I wouldn't get up, and chased her away, she decided to play with the crabs who were very much alive and not very happy. OH MY GOD! All of a sudden, Fuzzy was running everywhere, barking to raise the dead with crabs hanging all over her. Everyone was trying to catch her but she kept howling at them. Finally I catch her and pulled her into my lap pulling off crabs.

I was 8 years old at the time and learned two things that day.......don't mess with crabs and how much I loved that dog. We both road home that night in pain since when I pulled them off Fuzzy they latched on to me.

Happy Father's Dad Daddy !! Enjoy the fishing and give Fuzzy kisses for me, I love & miss you both......your Sadie girl!

OK....I'm back. Let me tell you what the CBCo where Mommy works did for Father's Day. They have a committee in her office that's called the FISH committee. They do things to raise money and stuff for folks that come into the hospital that are in need. So they decided to have a Men's clothing drive.

(the donation room--pictures to follow Monday)
Since they was celebrating Father's Day, they decided to help all the Dads get an early start on their big day so each of the guys got a little token of their very own.

That is one excellent story. Thanks so much for telling it. I have to BOL picturing it in my mind, although I guess it wasn't so funny while the crabs were latched onto Fuzzy and you. Nice father's day thing your office did, too.

Have a wonderful day,

wags, Lola
