THE SADNESS AND JOY OF RESCUE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"Man is a dog's ideal of what GOD should be."

~~~ Holbrook Jackson
Hi dearest friends,
It has been a very beautiful day, full of sunshine and the promise of the Spring to come. Yesterday Mommy said she would let me go to Pets Mart today and pick out my own Gotcha pressies. Well we did and they might look kinda familiar to you but that will have to wait to see them. Mommy promised to take some pictures tomorrow. Yesterday evening Mommy heard some really bad news so my Gotcha Day was marked with sadness as well as joy.
The Rainbow Bridge
It is with deep regret and sorrow, that we most tell you that one our Alvin rescues has crossed over the bridge and joined Travis and all the other dachshunds we have been unable to save.
Dave
Dave was a precious dapple, that never had his chance in life. There was just to many strikes against him. Now he is with my sister, Samantha, and the little imp, Joey, having a wonderful time with all our Dachsie and DWB friends, where he will now be pain free forever. On my Feb 16th post, Mommy pleaded for help in raising funds and finding fosters but today she is BEGGING.
Please if you can, consider helping DROH do exactly what our logo says........
But even with the sadness comes joy from the success stories and that's what makes rescue worth everything all rescue organizations do.
Remember this picture of Steve, who can into DROH looking like this? Well he is fully recovered and ready for adoption. Saturday night he worked the kissing booth at Sam Houston Racetrack at the wiener dog race event. He most be a pretty good kisser because he made more money than I did at Camp Bow Wow's "Cupids and Canines "Adopt-a-Thon" Saturday afternoon. Here is a video on YOU TUBE that shows Steve and our new kissing booth.
Another success story. Remember Diesel, the little dog that was set on fire by some deranged child. He and his new brother, Seymour, also a DROH rescue are doing great in their new home, loved and pampered. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. This picture speaks volumes.
Mommy has been crying since she started this post but now she is smiling, thinking about the success stories and all the others that will come. We pray for this everyday. Please remember "Until there are none....save one" . If you would like to help out by donating some of your treat money or even offering prayers, please visit DROH at http://www.dachshundrescueofhouston.org/ where there is also a link to DROH's Facebook account. There are so many rescue groups all over the world, so if not DROH, please consider donating to one of the many rescue groups that our DWB friends came from and many of our peeps volunteer with.
God Bless.....Mona's Mommy Sarah
Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}} to all.........Mona
Oh, honey, our momma is sobbing for that little one who has gone to heaven. Momma does rescue, too, and knows the heartache of not being about to take all of them to safe places to save their little lives.
We will light a candle this evening for Dave...
Hi, Mona. Your mom is not alone in begging. One of our buddies asked if I knew of ways to help. Hmm, I gave her a long answer, but in a couple of words: I too am very active in rescuing and adopting. Through my nameless network we place several animals of all kinds each year. So, when you don't see me react to some of your pleas, please know that I too am helping just using a different route. I love you and your family for all you do.
We're sorry about Dave. Was he sick or was it because he didn't have a foster home to go to? It's always so hard to lose even one.
SO sorry to hear about the loss. Rescue does have its up and downs. You sometimes have to focus on the good times to make it through the bad.
I am glad you liked your card. Mom just gave me your card today to. I will post a blog about it soon. Thanks again!
Yes, you can use some of my snow photos if you would like. :)
