A PLEA FOR HELP AND HOT DOGS

3 Days Until My Gotcha Day

(copied from Christmas 2008 post)

Hi my friends,

Before we show the pictures of my dachsie friends and wieners I promised yesterday, Mommy wants to make an appeal for help for Dachshund Rescue Of Houston.

Maybe you heard about the seizure of over 300 animals in Alvin, Texas during January. The Houston SPCA rescued a large number of dogs from a breeder, including many Dachshunds. On February 3, we started receiving some of those dachshunds, 10 so far, with more to come.

Since we are currently at our limit, we anticipate two major needs: foster families and financial assistance. Each dog needs to be brought up-to-date on shots, spayed or neutered, treated for heart worms and many will need dental work. The financial need will be great and our next major fundraiser isn't until April.

These dogs have never been loved but kept in cages to breed many, many times over so the need for foster families is great. How can we rescue a dog from the hell they have lived in and then leave them in a cage at a vet office while they are recovering from heart worms, etc? If anyone that lives around the Houston area would be interested in fostering we desperately need you. Please see the foster application on our website.

Financial contributions can be made by Pay Pal on our website, address is on Mona's sidebar, or mailed to: Dachshund Rescue of Houston, PO Box 580, Friendswood,Texas 77549.

Droh is not the only dachshund rescue group that has taken in pups from the same seizure. We aren't sure but we heard there were as many 60 dachshunds rescued, many of which are piebald. Please help these innocents.

Now for the most hilarious sight of the day on Saturday. Long dogs bobbing for hot dogs. I got very frustrated because my nose couldn't go far enough to grab one off the bottom. Mommy took this picture of me while everybody was fighting for hot dogs.

Brooklyn was the big winner....she almost climbed into the tub.

Gotta go now..........love, kisses and {{hHuggies}}} to all....Mona

We are all helping as much as we can and as often as you can. I admire you for being so active and I thank you on behalf of my homeless furiends.
As for the dog-hot-dog-bob...so cool. No aggression?

"If your dog doesn't like someone, you probably shouldn't either." - Heehee.. Huskee basically does NOT like anyone outside the family! He totally adores the people in his 'circle of trust', which is the immediate family.. anyone outside this circle is 'enemy'!!

Hope those doggies rescued have a chance in life and at getting the good home they all deserve..

Oh the hot-dog-dog-bob game looks real fun!!

Those dogs are most polite. I would have just stepped right in and put my whole head in the bucket.

I am in the running for a $5,000
grant in a national Pepsi promotion. It is for immiticide to treat heartworm positive dogs. Voting is every day until 2/28. If your readers could vote and we pull this off I would be happy to
treat several of these dogs. I have done rescue in Houston for 23 years and do lots of heartworm treatments. Please visit the website pepsirefeshproject.com and
look under The Planet for heartworm dogs in Houston.
I can provide references.
