MY GOTCH DAY PRESSIES

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
"When you leave in the morning, they stick their nose in the door crack and stand there like a portrait until you turn the key 8 hours later."
-- Erma Bombeck
Hi dear friends,
Sorry we've been gone for a few days, but Mommy just didn't feel like doing a anthing. She is still upset over DROH losing Dave. It was so senseless. Mommy is sorry she didn't post about my Gotcha Day pressies on Saturday, but I understand how she feels. Before I show you my pressies Mommy wants to tell you about a book she pulled out Friday evening and starting reading it again. It helped her when Samantha died and the stories are helping her again.
Mommy here..........
Some of your parents that are my age, might remember the books in the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series. In 1998 the book "Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul" was published. I loved it, and read it from the first page until the last. I laughed and cried both. I felt moved by it, because it showed the love between man and animals. The thought of a place without dogs is unthinkable to me. When Samantha died and I was ready to die too, I pulled the book out again. It moved me just as much the second time around. After reading it, I knew I had to have another dog. So Friday I started reading it again. I believe that crying is therapeutic and cleanses your soul. Maybe that's what this book is all about.
When the book first came out, I read a review on it and it was that review that made me want to buy it. Here is that review..........
"...three things have sustained me through the worst and the best of times: dogs, cats and chicken soup. Now all of those life saving ingredients are combined in this collection of moving stories about the unique role that our beloved animals play in our lives. Keep the tissues handy. You'll need them."
-- Mordecai Segal, author, The Davis Book of Dogs, president, Dog Writer's Association of America, Inc.

One more thing before I turn this back over to Mona. I noticed that the link to the YouTube video about the Sam Houston Wiener Dog Races, where you can see the kissing booth and how well Steve is looking, wouldn't open. Well as usual my typing leaves a little bit to desired. I guess Mona is right, I am a DOOFUS. Let me try again.

Mona here...........
Remember Pinkie Poo and my orange chicken? Well Mommy sewed my chicken's head back on and I haven't destuffed Pinkie Poo yet. So Saturday morning, I went looking at Pets Mart and look what I found. A grey elephant and another chicken. Mommy says it's not a chicken, its a duck.....I guess she is right because it's got a quacker inside. I've named him Daffy Duck. Don't got a name for the grey elephant....maybe you guys can suggest a name.

I really like the duck and whenever he quacks, I grab him by the neck and shake him real hard until he stops quacking.

I also got two of these. They are Yummylicous but I'm still chewing on the first one.

Of course, I had to go hide it. Don't tell Mommy but its outside in my hidie hole. I gotta go get it and bring it inside before bedtime. It's supposed to get very cold tonight and by tomorrow night they say we might get snow. I hate snow!!!!

Mommy let me have a special treat, besides my carrot cupcake. Cottage cheese and Chicken!!

I made sure I got it all.

And then I licked the container clean! Oh I also got a big basted Ham Bone and Mommy bought one for Spike too.

Mommy again..........
For the last 2 days Mona has been playing with Daffy Duck and her grey elephant during the day but at night she drags Pinkie Poo and the orange chicken to the bedroom and wants them in bed with us. She refuses to stay in the bed until I pick them both up and put them under the covers.
Go figure.
Love, kisses and {{huggies}} to all.....Mona and Mommy too!!

Oh Mona what a wonderful wonderful Gotcha Day you had. I really like your duck and elephant. Of course they are so NEW yet that they can't be trusted not to have an accident in bed. You are doing the right thing take the older, better trained ones for now.
And of course the ducky might take a quacking fit in the night. Most disturbing, that.
Chicken Cottage Cheees and Carrot Cake. Wowie Wowie. Did you want to shout .... I "C" U ?

Sounds like your mama got too sad so now she's mad. I'm sorry. As for you, you sure ate a lot of good things on your gotcha day. I wonder why my M decided to assign birthdays to us. We don't get such cool gifts.

I have a GREAT book that was given to me called "God Gets A Dog." It's so good. I absolutely love it - and of course, God chooses Doxies. :) I'll have to see who it is by and let you know! :)

Not sure where to post this but I wanted to ask if anyone has heard of National Clicks?

Can someone help me find it?

Overheard some co-workers talking about it all week but didn't have time to ask so I thought I would post it here to see if someone could help me out.

Seems to be getting alot of buzz right now.

Thanks
