9 Days Until My Gotcha Day

(copied from March 30, 2009 post)

Hi friends,

Brrrrr! It is just too cold in Houston and me and Mommy are miserable. It was 31 this morning when I ran outside to do my business, so I squatted and ran right back in. It only got to 43 today, was very windy and cloudy all day and it was too cold for me to set in my favorite spot in front of the patio door . On Mommy's way home it started raining and then it started sleeting and Mommy said "this is just not right. This is Texas not the North Pole." Tomorrow it is supposed to rain most of the day and get lots colder. Mommy took the above picture of me at "Paws in the Park" last year and it was so cold that day that we were all freezing our buns off. The only good thing about that was that Mack at http://mackmess.blogspot.com/ and his Mom came to see us. It was a wonderful first meeting with Mack but I know he and his Mom were freezing too. This Saturday we are going to an adoption event at "Camp Bow Wow" in Kemah and we don't want to freeze again. We are taking the kissing booth, it's our first event with our new booth, but I don't want to freeze my butt off again. Do you have any idea how many kisses, I will have to sell just to stay warm? It's a hard job but somebody's gotta do it.

Today, Papa Ricca, Mommy's Daddy would be 97 years old if he were still alive....maybe. Why maybe? Remember last year when "The Descendants of Poggioreale Families" had the huge reunion last August? The organizer of the event went back to Italy to do some research for a book he is writing about Poggioreale and visited all of the old churchs there and went through their records. He found Papa Ricca's name in the birth records of the church were he was baptised but his birthday wasn't listed as February 10, 1913. It was listed as January 14, 1913. Why was it different? This is the question Mommy and her sisters have been trying to figure out since last year. Was it because he was 15 years old when he came to America and since he spoke no English, he didn't know what to say when he was asked or did he just not know when his birthday was. Kinda strange? Guess the family will never know what really happened but his girls celebrated today anyway.

Earlier today, Mommy and Aunt Pam were talking together about their Daddy. They were talking about their old dog "Fuzzy" and how much my grandpa would have loved both me and Samantha. It reminded Mommy of a fib he told Mommy one time. He said that Fuzzy was Superman's dog and he could fly. YEP, she believed him. One night when she and her Daddy were at home by themselves, she snook out of her bed and sat in the window all night waiting to see Fuzzy fly. Fuzzy never did fly, that Mommy saw, but she never doubted he told her the truth.

Papa Ricca 1913 - 1984

This was his passport picture, taken in 1970, when he went back to Italy to visit the 3 old maid Aunt that raised him. He went back to Italy every 3 years after that. He loved being an American and was very proud when he became a citizen
of the USA, but he missed and loved his childhood home.

Gotta go now. The old girl is getting weepy eyed so catch you later.

Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}} to all..........Mona

Hey Mona, you got an alien comment right above the OP Pac's comment. I was told that we need to delete those alien words beclaws they may lead to some places that we would not want any of our furends to go. I'm just sayin'.
This was a neat post today. Grandpa Ricca was a handsome guy. Happy almost B Day to him.

It is always so furry sads when we don't have the ones we love close to us all of the time. Our momma misses her momma and dadda lots and lots. She says that without us to cuddle, she would be so sads. So, we cuddle her lots.

Sorry 'bout your weather. We has lots of snow but it is supposed to snow up here so we don't care too much unless it lasts until April.
