The Mommy here....

Five years ago I lost my Samantha and closed by heart to any other dog, but on February 19, 2005 my life started again. A little wire haired dachshund girl came into my life and captured my heart, yes my Mona. The moment I saw her I lost my heart to her. It seems like yesterday and in the last 5 years there has been many ups and downs in my life but there has always been one constant in my life.......Mona mi Ricca.

(Mona's first blog picture)

This picture was taken right after I adopted Jacks and decided to take him and Mona to have their pictures taken. Mona's look has changed a lot through the years, sometimes very short with a summer haircut, other times like now, wild & curly. She is the sweetest dog, and we know the best kisser in the world based on how much money she has raised for DROH. I have decided for the next 19 days, until her gotcha day to share pictures from the last 3 years of my girl's life. Why just 3 years? We started our blog "Just Us Texas Dachsies" on Sept 3, 2007 and didn't have any pics before then or even a camera period. When I gave my boys up, I wanted to stop blogging but was begged not to stop by our dear friends at DWB. So it became Mona's blog alone and I changed it to "Mona & the Mommy too!! We are so happy we didn't stop blogging because we would never have all the friends we do now and we value all of you and your peeps so much. On Mona's last gotcha day on Feb 19, 2009, Samantha came down from the bridge and shared her feeling about her little sister. I cry when I read it, just like I did this morning, and like I am crying now. If you don't know what happened before Mona came into my life you can go read it on on that day's post, just go to the archives. Since I lost all our pictures, when our computer died, I will be picking some from her previous posts. I hope you enjoy them. Now let me turn this over to Mona now.

Mona here....

The old girl can be so weepy eyed sometimes. "What a Doofuss." Doesn't she know that my life started the day I saw her for the first time. It only took one lick to that weepy eyed face to know I was home where I belonged. I don't plan on going anywhere for a long time!!!!!

Now for some exciting news! Next Saturday will be unveiling of DROH's new kissing booth. We can't wait for you guys to see it. We are gonna have an "Unveiling" get together at Aunt Judy's with lots of DROH volunteers. Of course all the peeps will be meeting for lunch at La Bresa's Mexican Restaurant and then go to the unveiling at Aunt Judy's. "Do us doggies get any Mexican food? NO!!" Nothing new about that, the peeps can be so rude sometime.

BUT.......that's OK with me cause I get to visit with George, Harley, Bandit & Brooklyn and that's not all. Remember the three pups Aunt Judy doggie sat at the same time last year. Well she's dog sitting again and they will be there too along with a new one named Isis. How long is it until next Saturday?

Then on Feb 13th, DROH is participating in event at CAMP BOW WOW. There will a lot of our fosters there but Mommy is taking me and George is going too because we got some cute shirts to model. Wonder if I can get Mack's Mom to bring him down to see me?

My foster Mommy, who still loves me, who took my brother Jacks when Mommy got so sick in 2007 and now he is her little boy, sent us this picture of him today. Yep, that's my best bud and brother, Jacks. Handsome little fella isn't he. You can still his shangle tooth. His nickname was Hobo. Wonder if Mommy Shelley calls him that?

Gotta go now. Time for a nap with Mom.

Love, kisses and {{huggies}} to all....Mona

Oh, I can't wait to see Mona's pictures! She's so cute! And I like Jacks' picture too - he does look like Oscar! I would swear Oscar has a little minpin in him. Hard to tell. Jack is one of my son's names! lol. Anyway, Oscar tore some of his stitches and we can't get in to the vet until tomorrow morning. One nervous Sunday ahead of us! :(

Dear Mona's Mommy,
What a wonderful way to celebrate Mona's Gotcha Day... we are so lad fate has arranged to bring you two into each other's lives. No pup can ever replace Samantha, but I am sure she'd want you to have another pup to love.. I am sure Samantha somehow 'orchestrated' your meeting and brought little Mona to you.
Can't wait to see your kissing booth Mona!!
