"Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside the dog,
it's too dark to read."
--Groucho Marx

Hi friends,

Yesterday Mommy was so excited about Brad a lee getting adopted on her birthday, that she forgot everything else in her haste to share the news about his adoption. She had a very nice birthday, for an old codger of 62, and the best prat was I got CAKE!!! But before we tell ya about that, I want to show you my friend, Matilda, at http://iammatilda.blogspot.com/.
Matilda lives in Japan and she is a wirehair dachshund just like me but much prettier and if you look at the picture of my brother, Siskle, on my sidebar you can see that they could be related.

Anyway, the other day, I said that "most" dachshunds don't like the cold or snow but that is not totaling true because Matilda loves the snow!! So you see there must be lots of others out there too but it's not for me. Mommy says it so so pretty but I say let it stay outside and give me my big chair in front of the patio door to watch it.

(courtesy of Matilda -- a dachshund who loves snow)

(Matilda -- in my kind of weather)

Mommy collected $46.00 on her chest for her birthday from the people in the office where she works. For those of you who haven't heard or done this, the custom is that somebody pins money on the birthday girl or boy and people keep adding to it all day. Its lots of fun and sometime ya gotta be careful that you don't trip over your money, sometimes ya gotta have two streamers on ya. Mommy said we are gonna spend it on me, me, me at Pets Mart!!

She got this stuff from the refund group that she works with. If you are wondering what the keg is, its a water jug not a beer keg. Mommy is well known for knocking over her water glass, coffee cup and diet sodas all over her desk....she is so clumsy....ever heard of Clumsy Carp? That's my Mommy. It's got a built in straw that you clamp shut after you take a drink. If she knocks this over, she should be horsewhipped.

The other stuff don't count.............

but take a look at the doggie cake .... Yummy!!

Mommy brought it home so I could share her birthday cake, if it wasn't chocolate. As you can see it's butt was vanilla, the best part.

It's head was chocolate, so that was Mommy's part.

Here are some pictures of me enjoying my fair share. Mommy took a really cute video but can't load it........stupid blogger.

"please Mommy, can I have it now?"
Going in.

Cake is much better eating it off the floor.
"Mommy, do I gotta wait another whole year for a piece of cake?"
Well another year down and I hope lots more to come with my Mommy. Tomorrow we are going to my Aunt Judy's, to work on the new kissing booth
and we're gonna spend the night and then then Sunday the Mommies are going to see "The Lovely Bones". Mommy read the book and can't wait to see the movie.
Mommy isn't fooling me, we are really going so she can get a "Georgie fix".

Mommy is taking Monday off and we get to spend the whole day together.....now that my idea of heaven.
Later...........love, kisses and {{{huggies}}} to all............Mona

What a beautiful cake that was, Mona! Almost a shame to cut into it, but we are so glad you got to have some. Thunder will eat food off the floor or off a dish, but Phantom really prefers to have a dish - silly boy.

Have fun with your weekend visit and don't worry about Mom and Georgie, she really only has eyes for you.

Thank you for sharing your mommy's day with us, especially the presents. You gave me an idea with the keg. Our kat, Jet, aka Demolition Kitty, has the bad habit of knocking our mom's coffee cup over, frequently.
