IF I DIDN'T HAVE A DOG OR CAT........

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"Until one has loved an animal, part of their soul remains unawakened."
MONA!!!!! Where have you run off too?

Hi friends,

I guess this post will just be from me tonight, me being the Mommy. Mona is in hiding. Why you ask? Tomorrow is the big once a year event.......total physical for Miss Mona. She does not like the V word, so she is not to be found. She is a very healthy, if slightly overweight, daschsie, not like her Mommy, and has never had any kind of medical problem....Bless you Lord! She seems to think, if she hides, she won't have to go. I guess I'll just cancel our plans to go on another dachsie play date tomorrow after the doctor.

What?? Mommy!! Did you say dachsie play date? Do I get to see Bradley? Do you get love on George? How many boy doglets? How many girl doglets? Will our honorary daschsie, Puff Daddy be there? Mommy....here I am!!!

Well, my goodness. Problem solved. This little yearly routine made me think of something I read once so I thought we'd share.

If I didn't have a dog or cat......

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety. My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.

All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture & cars would be free of hair. When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel.

When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without wading through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.

I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.

I would have money, & no guilt to go on a real vacation.

I would not be on a first-name basis with numerous veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grand kids through college.

The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, & leave him/her/it ALONE.

My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers.

My house would not look like a day care center, with toys everywhere.

My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash.

I would no longer have to spell the words B-A-L-L, F-R-I-S-B-E-E, W-A-L-K, T-R-E-A-T,
R-I-D-E, GO

I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.

I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much.

I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading 'mud' season.

I would not have to answer the question 'Why do you have so many animals?' from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get.

How EMPTY my life would be!!!

Sound familiar!! and so true.

As Mona would say..........Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}} to all......the Mommy.

Remember to keep your tail tucked when you get to the V E T. You know what they do if the get hold of your tail...
Butt then after that ordeal.. you get to have a play date. Oh, I wish I could go to that one.
Mona, are you going to post your ADOPTION STORY for Thanksgiving Day?? I hope so. I would love to read about how you were adopted and how it changed your life and your mom's life too. Several of us are going to do this project. It will be fun to read everyone's stories. Hope you will post yours.

Hi Mona, we hope you have a very good report from the vet and that the visit passes very quickly. Then you can go have lots of fun with all your furiends. Enjoy your day.

And your Mom's story is so very true - everone needs to have a pet.

Ha, ha, ha. I've heard my mom say she's thinking about using sawdust on the tile floor. That's mainly because my sister Frankie's still a pup, but there's a lot of us too...lots of shedding etc.
Go to the vet. I don't like it either, but as I tell people in my book, always listen to your parents and your doctors! Twink!

Heehee! You should go check out my bloggie where Mom is explaining why TaiChi wears diapers (it's an old dog-carpet in the motorhome combination). Mom and Dad also readily admit that they bought The House With Wheels so they could actually go on vacation and not feel guilty about leaving "the kids" behind!

Hope the V-E-T thing goes well!

I just went to the Vet Lady and I suggest you grab all the food and water you can carry and find a safe hiding place. Lay low for a few days. I love the poem, Mommy loves it too.
