QUOTE OF THE DAY: "If you've never owned dachshunds, no explanation is possible. If you have owned dachshunds, no explanation is necessary."
--Benny Archuleta
Hi dear friends,
Wow!! This Halloweiner was the best ever. This year we had it at a new place that let us be off leash and our humans were able to enjoy themselves for a change. The name of the place is Meadowlake Pet Resort. They had a big room inside where the people food was, our special treats were, the silent auction, and the music that was great but the real fun was outside where the booths with our harnesses and Dachshund Rescue of Houston t-shirts were on sale. Most everybody came outside and laid blankets on the ground and watched us dachsies run around playing and running in & out of the building, they left the side door open. We sold $400.00 in harnesses, bandannas, belly bands, doggie blankets and others things......all made by Aunt Judy and Nancy. Don't know how much they made on the t-shirts but they almost sold out. Mommy had a wonderful time visiting with a bunch of her former fosters and of course my brother Toby was there with his doggie brother and all his humans. He came right over to Mommy and jumped in her lap. Yes!!! She did cry but they were tears of joy!! Me and Toby went off together and caught up on each other and he said he loves his new family but still thinks about us all the time just like we do him!!
Of course there was a lot of picture taking going on but don't worry Mommy didn't post all 147 she took. So here goes. First here are some pictures of me, since this is my blog I get to show off first.
DROH has a new little wirehair that Mommy has fallen in love with and she came to the Halloweiner with her foster. Mommy wishes she was hers but..........
Her name is Greta.
This is her website picture on the available for adoption list.
Suzanne is fostering her and asked Mommy to look after her for a little bit and of course Mommy jumped at the chance. While Mommy was walking around with her, showing her off, a lady with a baby came over to ask if Greta was available for adoption. Mommy asked if she would like to hold her and the rest we hope will be history soon. She filled out an application so kept your fingers crossed it works out. This picture is of the lady holding Greta.
This was the only non dachshund in attendance. His name is Gordy and if Greta gets adopted, he will be her doggie brother. The really got along well, a plus in their favor.

This cutie will be her human brother.
OK, now you get too see our Foosball theme costumes. Please don't laugh to hard. The Mommy is already embarrassed enough but she "game" for anything.

Toby has a Mommy and two human brothers and a human sister too.
This is Paco, his name was Kelso, when Mommy fostered him. He was with us during Hurricane Rita when the Vet wanted to close their office, so we just keep him until he got adopted.
This is Bonnie, Paco's sister....also adopted from DROH.
Here are some pictures of some of the other dachshunds in their costumes.
The crowd.........
I was exhaused after all that socializing so a nap was the last order of the day.
Mommy took today off and since it rained all day and she couldn't go anywhere, we loaded videos all day and took naps. A perfect way to end a great party weekend.
Some action outside.

Remember the song "Choose ME". Uncle Ron was the Master of Ceremony and kept playing it. He came down from Putnam to do it for DROH and told Mommy he was planning on bringing my brother Peanut but didn't get to. Mommy was disappointed but she knows how happy he is so thats OK. There are two vidoes playing "Choose Me", a rescue dogs dream song.
Some action outside.
This last video was us waiting very impatiently to get going to the Halloweiner Party.
The only thing that would have made it better yesterday, besides having all my brothers there, would have been if all you guys could have been there woth me.
Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}} to all.........Mona
