BACK HOME -- JULY 4TH TRIP

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"To me, to live without dogs would mean accepting a form of "blindness"
--- Thomas McGuane

Hi friends,
Before I get started telling you all about my trip to the country, I wanted to say that this post is dedicated to everybody's friend Asta. Mommy & I felt, like everybody else, what would we do without hearing about and seeing great pictures of Asta's adventures. Well, thank the Lord, that isn't gonna happen as hopefully ever has heard by now......Asta is back!!!! We all love you so much Asta and your Mommy & Daddy.
Now for my trip. Mommy and I left 100 degree temps in Houston for 100 degree temps in the country. But you know what, I didn't feel hot at all, cause I got to visit with my good friends the Dachsies and their Mom, my Aunt Mary. Mommy was hot but not me cause I had my Sammy to follow around and I even taught him to roach a little bit.

The first day nothing much happened but playing, sniffing around the yard and barking at them cow dogs. There was a few little cow puppies that were so cute but the mean old Mommies wouldn't let us go play with them. Party poopers!

I was very tired that first night and since we can't go out after dark because of them old copperheads, me and Sammy laid down together butt to butt when we came in for a little nap.

I don't play with stuffies much but I do like to carry them around and since these stuffies have Sammy scent all over them I kinda snuggled with then when Sammy wasn't around.

The next 2 pictures Mommy took while I was trying to nap. Couldn't she see I didn't want to the bothered.

OK...now for a little Friday afternoon action. That's Aunt Mary, all dressed up like a clown to go start the riding grass cutter. Of course you

see that she had an escort to the front gate but she said she didn't need our help.....How rude!!

So I decided I would teach Sammy the fine art of roaching.

Here I was trying to get him to roll just right.

He was just getting the hang of it when Maggie had to butt in & the lesson was over.

Aunt Mary couldn't get the lawn mover to work so Olin came over & helped her get it started and of course we all had to make sure if he was friend or foe. We was doing tooooo much barking so Mommy took all of us inside until after the front yard got cut.

Everybody but me was barking at the door waiting for Aunt Mary to come back inside. I think they thought she wasn't coming back. I wasn't worried cause my Mommy was in the house with me.. This is everybody waiting at the door....see I'm kinda standing to the side observing. We gots a video of us all barking at the door but it wouldn't load....stupid blogger. Maybe later!

Well that's it for tonight. Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}}....Mona

It looks like you had a great trip and got to meet cowdogs. I have never even seen one of those. Is it scary? I am glad you are back home safe and I hope you can rest now and have good dreams of your friends playing.

A doxie parade! We love it. Oscar wanted to join right in. Stay away from snakes. They are B.A.D. Bad (and they definitely don't taste like chicken)!

Lots of treats,
