4th OF JULY TRIP--PART 3 BUGS & US

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
"Dogs give their human companions unconditional love and and are always there with an encouraging wag of the tail when they are needed. The dog is indeed a very special animal"
-- Dorothy Hinshaw Patent
Hi friends,
Mommy has been back at work for 2 days now and she is ready to go back to the country again. I never wanted to come home in the first place but Mommy said if I want my regular treats and eats, she gotta go to work. Oh well! When is the next holiday.

Mommy has decided that you have all seen enough cow dogs in the past, that we won't show any of them this time, besides they weren't cooperating this trip. We didn't see any rabbits to chase and only a few squirrels that were way to fast for us and they would run up the trees to get away from us. We did see a King snake, on the evening of July 4th, but we don't even want to talk about him. What we did see was plenty of bugs like butterflies, cicadas, beetles, wasps, bees and a bug we had never seen before. So tonight you get to see some of the bugs they got in the country and of course more pictures. of me and my friends. Everybody should know all my friends names by now so I'm just gonna show you pictures, except for a little story about Jake, the little black/tan doggie.

The picture below is of Jake doing what he loves to do when he's in the house. Looking out the curtains. Jake would stay outdoors 24/7 if he could. When every doggie is in the house cooling off he will be outside looking for squirrels. The only time he comes inside is to eat, sleep and when it gets dark because that's when the copperheads come out to feed. Whenever the dogs are left at home by themselves, they have to go into the pen. Before you even get to the fence, he climbs out of the pen, jumps on the sofa and looks out the curtains. How he climbs out of that pen nobody knows.

Does anyone know what kind of bug this is? It cracks out of it's shell and turns into its new form. It is a cicada. These pictures were taken by Aunt Mary during it's transformation. This is the bug making all the racket when it is very hot. Aunt Mary says there are thousands of them everywhere. If you go to Addie, Lucie and Hailey blog @ http://raisingaddie.blogspot.com/ you will hear what they sound like in a video they did recently.

These next two pictures are what a cicada looks like. Roxie killed it but her Mommy wouldn't let her eat it. What's a little extra protein gonna hurt?

This is the face I dream about every night--my Sammy

My Aunt Mary found this bug flipped over on it's back and it was still alive but couldn't turn over. Some doggie might have caught it and it got away, we don't know but he's dead now cause he got squashed by the Mommy. Does anybody know what it might be?

Mommy went to change the water in the dog bowl on the deck and found these floating around dead. The look like beetles but I don't know but I almost swallowed one.

Mommy say a butterfly that looked a lot like this butterfly and it looked strange, so Mommy took some pictures of it and then realized there was two off them.

(taken from off the Internet)

The pictures need to be make them bigger to see the butterflies good. The color was beautiful with the sunshine shining through their wings.

Mommy says she thinks they were mating. What do you think.

There you have it my friends. It was my bestest trip to the country and the memories will last me until we go again. When is the next holiday?
Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}} to all.....Mona

What fun even though there were a lot of bugs. Did any of them taste like chicken?

Lots of treats,

Mona I am glad you had so much fun and thank you for showing pictures of Jake. Those bugs are cool, but Mom says eeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwww. What does she know. What was it like meeting the king of the snakes. I don't think I want to meet a snake at all, ever.
licks and sniffs, Sasha

Mona, I'm so glad you had a good trip. Are locust and cicada the same thing? We have locust at the end of the summer here.
