MY SUMMER HAIRCUT & THIS & THAT

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
(courtesy of Twix)
"Why not go out on a limb?
Isn't that where the fruit is?"
Hi dear friends,
Well here I am naked as a "jay bird'. It sure is cool but I sure do feel naked. Nobody knows me as a wire haired dachshund anymore but at least I do look like a dachshund now. After Mommy picked me up from the "beauty parlor" and she did a quick we're back post, our 500th post not 5000th post, we went and spent the rest of the day at my Aunt Tina & Chris's house and their doggies, Mr Grins, Gordo and Baby Girl. The humans had hot dogs and hamburgers and us doggies had kibble. Sound familar? Mommy said she just gotta tell ya about a dip Aunt Tina makes with corn beef, no hash, cream cheese, green onions, salt, pepper, garlic powder and Worcester sauce. It is so think, you spread it on crackers. It freezes good too, so Aunt Tina makes logs out it and you can cut a slice & not worry about breaking your crackers. She always has them ready in the freezer whenever she has guests and wants something special to serve. Yummylious but how would us doggies know, since we didn't get any of it either. Them adults are so stingy!!
Aunt Tina took these pictures of the new temporary me in my naked state. My hair grows so fast that in 3 months I'll look all hairy again. Mommy says I still have my lovely smile and my pretty eyes, so everybody knows it's me.

It's amazing how much happened around here in the 3 weeks my computer was sickly. Without having a camera right now, we don't really have any new pictures to share other than what my friend's Mommies, Aunt Mary, Aunt Judy and Aunt Tina & Chris take. Mommy said that her 6 month car insurance is due June 23 and since we travel around our part of Texas so much, we can't afford to be without insurance or AAA, so a camera will have to wait.
I am so excited. I been talking to Aunt Judy's boys in forever about how much fun it is in the country and Aunt Mary said sometimes they could come to the country with us, so guess what? This coming Saturday, we are all going on a day trip up to the country. I can't wait to see the boys faces when they see them cow dogs, rabbits, squirrels and all the other critters they gots there. Mommy said they might even catch a picture of all 9 of us on that couch but that would be a pretty tight squeeze. There will be 4 Mommies and only 2 rockers on that porch, so I wonder how they will settle that situation. Not to worry, Mommy already has 2 lawn chairs in the back of our car. Always thinking, that's my Mommy. My Aunt Judy is making a sour cream blackberry pie, Aunt Mary is making her famous artichoke spinach dip, Aunt Becky is gonna buy the fixins for sandwiches and Mommy is bringing one of Aunt Tina's corn beef dip logs. Yummylicous, I guess, because of course, we won't get any of it either. I told ya just plain stingy.
As all of you know DROH participated in the CLEAR LAKE ARTHRITIS WALK about 3 weeks ago and we had a wonderful time. I even got to walk because a nice man took me with him. Not to worry, Mommy didn't let me go with any old stranger. It was Kathleen, Wendy's foster Mom's husband, that asked if I would like to walk. He was a very nice man but he didn't want to walk the whole 3 miles. We came back after one mile because he is old like Mommy and was tired. I could have walked the 3 whole miles like Bradley did.
The little girl below with the clown is Alyssa. She has had arthritis since she was 3 years old and is now 9 years old and she walked the whole 3 miles like Bradley did. The little dog is Wendy and she walked a mile. Alyssa & Wendy were both the ambassadors for the event.

You probably have figured out by now that Bradley walked the whole 3 miles. This from Mommy's former foster that was adopted and returned to DROH as damaged goods. I ask you does he look liked damaged goods to you? It wasn't his fault he got injured. Shame on his former owners for saying he was damaged goods. After he had surgery on his neck and back he was back to his same playful self. Becky is fostering him now and she will more than likely adopt him. He tore up our backyard while he was with us and has torn up Becky's yard too. He likes to eat dirt and that's one of the reasons he is fat. What a smile!! Mommy said if something should happen to me, God forbid, she would adopt him in a minute.

OK......now here is my before picture taken at the walk in my new harness.

OK......now here is my after picture taken yesterday taken in my new harness.

It's the same me, really it is and Mommy says I look skinnier with less hair. What do you think. One of the guys that works at Pets Mart and has seen the hairy me at lot whistled at me and said "what a foxy wire haired dachshund you are" and everybody was looking around to see who he was taking about. Hee Hee, we sure fooled them!

Well we have rattled on long enough for one day but before we go Mommy wants to show you some pictures that my brother, Toby's new Mommy sent us on Mother's Day that she found yesterday on our e-mail when she was wading through all that came in while we was gone.

Toby looking through a window for squirrels.

Toby and his brother Campbell laying outside.

(Ya gotta bigafie it to see Campbell.)

Gotta go now!! Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}} to all......Mona
