04/29/09 UPDATE ON JOANIE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

Hi friends,

Here is a quick update on Joanie. These pictures are more stressful than the last ones but she has gained weight. There is still time to help her. Mommy was talking to one of the volunteers with ATDR about the Reliant Dog Show coming up in July. Wouldn't it be wonderful if Joanie was fat, sassy and healthy by then and she could be there working the kissing booth for ALL TEXAS DACHSHUND RESCUE while I am working ours for DACHSHUND RESCUE OF HOUSTON?
It never hurts to have a dream does it?

April 29, 2009 - Joanie had a small setback just after her 1 week update. She became a little aggressive and it was obviously from the steroids, so her dose has been reduced and she seems to have leveled off now and is more like her former self. She is so much stronger already and doesn't wobble or fall forward nearly as much as she did only a week ago. She's up and moving around more and even played a little with her blanket today. She went to back to the vet this morning and she weighed 8 POUNDS (without her bed)!! The vet's notes show she weighed 6 pounds on the 17th so she's gained TWO pounds! (Note - The baby scale was not right and we apologize for the inaccurate information.) All the prayers, good thoughts, boiled chicken and steroids have made a significant difference in Joanie's life. Please keep the prayers and good thoughts coming; Cindy will take care of the chicken and steroids!!

I'm so glad that Joanie has gained 2 pounds even she still looks fragile! What is the average weight for a Dachshund? No, Moma, I dare not to ask about your weight, hehe!
I dream that Joanie will be healthy and sassy for ATDR in July(fat? you ask her if she wants to be, hehe).
I left you a message in the flower pot, ooops, post!
Love you

Hi Mona! Mom and I are glad Joanie is doing better. I saw that nice post you wrote about me, thank you! Mom needs to send you some more flower pictures from when they went away in March.

Holy feasting. That wee pup is worse than I was when I showed up at the shelter. Tell Joanie not to worry -

From a boy who was once a very hungry skinny boy and who is now a manly beast... there is hope! And Joanie will be a gorgeous in a few months' time. We just know it. We are sending loads of happy wiggly spaniel vibes her way, and we can't wait to see photos of her sassy self come July!
