TEXAS WILDFLOWERS

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"We are alone, absolutely alone on this chance planet: and, amid all the forms of life that surround us, no one, save for the DOG, has made an alliance with man. --- Maurice Maeterlinck

Hi dear friends,

Mommy and me are home after a very fast trip to the country to celebrate my Aunt Mary's birthday with her, Roxie, Sammy and Andy & Aunt Becky and her dachsie's Maggie and Jake. We only stayed one night but we packed a lot fun stuff in. There just isn't enough time when you are having a wonderful time. But this post isn't about our trip. Mommy couldn't find her camera and we knew Aunt Mary would take lots of pictures so we have to wait until she sends some to us. This post is gonna be about TEXAS WILDFLOWERS!!

Us Texans are very proud of our state flower, the blue bonnet, but we have lots more just as glorious. Mommy has told the story before about the Highway Patrol thinking she was picking blue bonnets when angel Samantha was little and was gonna arrest her until they saw Samantha's tail waving above the bluebonnets. Well it brought back such memories, seeing all the breathtaking flowers on the way to the country, that the Mommy cried. So since she didn't have the camera she went to the Internet to pick some pictures of what we saw. Fields and fields of wildflowers, flowers covering the mediums, flowers covering inclines, flowers everywhere, miles & miles on end.

There where lots of little birds flying around and singing and it was the nicest trip we have ever had driving to the country. Looking at all the beauty around us made the time fly .... but Mommy did get carried away and kinda was speeding and it's a miracle when didn't get a bunch of tickets.

So just for those of you who are not fortunate enough to be from Texans and have never seen Texas wildflowers here are just a few.

So there you have seen what we saw Saturday and Sunday. We don't get wild flowers around Houston as much as the Texas Hill Country so that's why it's so exciting driving that way every March and April. Mommy laughed because there were so many cars pulled off the side of the road taking pictures sitting in the bluebonnets all along Highway 6 and a lot of the cars were from out of state. There was old folks, young folks, lots of children and their dogs playing in the bluebonnets and I even think I saw a long red tail just above the bluebonnets waving to Mommy.
Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}} to all.......Mona

Hi, Mona & Mommy...

What a great post...Me & my Mom love spring flowers, too...

Those Texax Wildflowers are soooo beautiful...Can you really get in trouble for picking them??

Our spring flowers haven't got here yet, but we keep looking for them...

My Mom wants to send you a picture of our Lilacs when they wake up & my patch of lawn that gets covered with little white & yellow daisies in early spring...

BEAUTIFUL flowers! We lived in Texas for a year and loved the wild flowers. Here in Arizona, we don't have any and miss it!

We don't get ANYTHING like that here in the desert in Arizona!! I am so jealous, I'd love to see them in person!

Isn't it lovely that spring is here and there'd be wildflowers all over?

We LOVE bluebonnets (and anything Texas-ish) around here!

We haven't got ONE drop of rain. Mom keeps saying she wishes it would rain during the week and get it over with so we could have pretty weather for the Paws in the Park!

See ya then!
