FEBRUARY ADOPTIONS

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"A DOG can express more with his tail in minutes than his OWNER can express with his tongue in hours." --- Anonymous

Hi friends,

Do you recognize the doggie above? It's me!!! Well not really me but the way I feel. Happy! Happy!! Happy!!! My just my " me and Mommy" weekend is almost over and it was so much fun having Mommy too myself. Last night I snuggled down deep under the covers with Mommy all night long because it got cold....down to 38....way too cold for a little wire haired dachshund like me. Tonight it's gonna freeze maybe or so they say.

Well, it's the beginning of a new month, so it's time to show you the DROH adoptions for February. It was a very slow month for adoptions, only six but that's OK because at least that makes 6 that have found their forever homes and gives us 6 fosters ready to share a piece of their hearts again. Before we show you the lucky ones, there is a another older doggie that obviously was abused that was just rescued that the Mommy wants to share with you. He looks so sad & it just makes Mommy's heart break to think what he went through... when it happened it doesn't matter just the fact that it did makes Mommy cry "will it never end?" and when. Not in her lifetime. Will the need for rescue never end? NO, sadly no.

DIESEL

This is his bio straight off the DROH website:

Receiving Care
Sorry I'm not available for adoption yet. I will be ready in March.

Name: Diesel
Age: Adult (5-9 Years)
Color: Red

Poor Diesel looks like he has been rode hard and put up wet. The initial reaction is that Diesel was burned very deeply down his back and so when it healed it turned black. His hair may never grow back.

He was sniffle when we got him and you could just tell he has had a rough life. He walks well on a leash. He is looking for a forever home to show him the first bit of human kindness in his whole life.
There is also another doggie that just came into the program that the Mommy just couldn't resist showing you. He is a wirehair like me and his name is Toby just like my brother. Two winning combinations!! Remember just last month we sadly had to help Toby #4 to the bridge. This makes #5. A very popular name it seems. This one's for you Matilda.
TOBY #5

Hello everyone, my name is Toby but mom says it should be Tiny. I am small and am a wire-haired doxie. She just loves my bark because it comes out as a sweet, small whisper. My hair may look coarse but in reality it is very wispy and soft to touch. I am a pretty light chocolate brown with tan markings. I love to run with the rest of the gang and get along well with everyone. I am just slightly skittish when I first meet you but within a day I will follow you to the bitter end. It doesn't take me long to realize that I am safe and sound with the one who loves me and of course feeds me. Will you please give me a chance? I will make you happy, and I'd be blessed to be in your family. Hope to see you soon!

Love,Tiny Toby
Here are the lucky ones:

ZEUS--adopted 2/14/09

OWEN--adopted 2/16/09

ATHENA--adopted 2/21/09

PEBBLES--adopted 2/28/09

PRINCESS--adopted 02/28/09
Pretty nice looking bunch of pups, don't ya think?
This morning since we got up right at 9am CST, I asked the Mommy if we could visit the DWB chat room. We have heard about the chat room for a long time but never visited until today. I was so much fun. I got to chat with Snowball, Asta, Toffee and Rocky, that I am proud to say I already knew, but I also got to meet Cody, Buster and Gussie that I had never met before and hope I can count them as new friends now too. We will go back again but not next Sunday cause I'm being deseted again for the weekend when the Mommy goes to a bridal shower for one of her godchildren, Patricia, in Dallas with my Aunt Pam. I'm OK, I guess, with it cause Mommy is taking off that Friday for "boob" xray early that morning and we are off to the country for the weekend. Yahoo!! my darling Sammy I will be in your handsome little paws soon!!
Gotta say bye now cause my weekend alone with Mommy is coming to a close and there is still time for some more cuddling before my special weekend in over.
Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}} to all........Mona

I hope more pups can find their forever home soon. To think of on the bright side, the slow in adoption means that people think more thoroughly when adopting a dog and when they do get one, they will be love it forever.

That was such a nice post - nice to see that some pups found their forever homes, and we so hope the others do too, especially that first one, poor little guy - so sad.

Our mom would love to adopt all of them but for some reason she thinks the three of us are more than enough. Thanks for visiting our blog. We're following yours now too! Oscar says, "Dachshunds Rule!" Whatever!

So many dogs for adoption. Oh yeah, the rescuing will never stop as there are millions & millions of strays & dogs that are breeding in this world! It is impossible for it to end. There's only so much that one can do...
