DACHSHUND PERSONALITY PROFILE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"A dog will quickly turn you into a fool, but who cares?"

"Why is it that my heart is so touched whenever I meet a dog lost in our noisy streets?" -- Emile Zola

Hi dear friends,

The Mommy got an e-mail today from the lady that is the chairman or president or the lady in charge or whatever with DROH. Us doggies just don't really care what they call each other, we just know that we all have been given second chances because of them and we love them regardless of who they are. But anyway, Regina sent the Mommy an e-mail from a co-worker who grew up with the writer of a article about wiener dogs that the Mommy said is Right ON. The Mommy wants all wiener dog's Mommies and Daddies to see if they agree with this assessment. "truer words were never spoken"....says the Mommy. " We just know what is right and we are always right".....I say.

Living with a dachshund is like having a German grandmother. Everything is SO important.

Its important to come on time, eat on time, walk the yard on time, go to bed on time and to allow no deviations to time.

The trains in Germany always run in time. So do their wiener dogs.

Peanut, our mini dachshund, walked through our door, took a smell around, wagged her tail and said, I'll take it. She chose us. We had nothing to say in the matter, a hint of things to come.

My wife was bitten by a dog when she was a youngster and always has been wary around them.

I grew up with dogs all over the place and wanted one for 24 1/2 years. Then Peanut arrived.

She and my wife bonded instantly. Me, the one who wanted the dog (remember?), well, I'm handy when the Nut wants water and food . She sits beside Kathleen. Shes never more than a foot away from her. And I keep wondering what would it be like to have a dog.

She teaches us well. That's important in raising a dachshund. Some people make the mistake of trying to be the teacher. That's a hoot.

Eating is important. She has an internal meal clock that goes off at 6 am and 5 pm. No response, and she gets even more adorable. If that fails, she chases her tail. Then, she barks her head off, scolding.

Throw a ball at her? Why would I want to chase that? And put it in my mouth?

She hates rain and snow. I stand with an umbrella over her (not me) when she does her outside thing. If I forget the umbrella, she points to it.

Deep in her makeup is the mantra of all dachshunds. I don't wanna, I don't have ta. So they don't.

I've never seen any organism so in control of life.

Right now, shes in her bed that looks like a little plush sofa, covered with her blankie my sister knitted for her. Its important I have her pre-supper biscuit ready for her when she awakens at 4:59, preferably two.

My wife insists we did not spoil Peanut. Peanut spoiled us.

Now, I ask you.....Isn't that the way it should be?......says Me.

Love, kisses and (((huggies)))....Mona
