ME AND MY BROTHER JACKS

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
"The dog is the only living being that has found and recognizes an indubitable, tangible and definite GOD. He knows to whom above him to give himself. He has not to seek for a superior and infinite POWER."
Maurice Maeterlinck

Hello dear friends,

Sunday Evander's Daddy asked the Mommy how old I was. The Mommy said she didn't really know since I was a rescue. So the Mommy went and got my adoption contract and it said DROH thought I was a 2 years old, black and silver miniature wirehair and was named Ramona. So I guess I must be almost 6 years old. The Mommy tells everybody that my GOTCHA DAY, Feb 19th is my birthday. If you don't know my story, I'll tell you about it. It makes the Mommy cry whenever she thinks about it so I'll tell you myself....cause we all know she's a crybaby!

My story........I was found dodging traffic, durning a thunder storm on Veterans Memorial here in Houston. The lady that found me, said I looked like drowned river rat. She recognized me as a dachshund, so she jumped out of her car to get me. She named me Ramona and she fell in love with me and decided to foster me herself. It turned out that she was the Director of DROH. I was about 6 months old, they think, when I was rescued and I stayed with Shelley until I got adopted by the Mommy. She adopted me a month after Samantha went to the bridge, because she was lonely and Dr Ruth, my Vet, told her she had to have a dog but she wanted to make sure I was healthy before she adopted me. She knew how hard the Mommy took losing Samantha. When my Uncle Ron and Aunt Deb took me to my new home Dr Ruth was there, but as soon as the Mommy say me she started crying so Dr Ruth said she knew the Mommy wouldn't give me back, even if there was something wrong with me and the rest is history. My life in my forever home started Feb 19th, 2005.

Less than 3 weeks later, the Mommy decided, I needed company so she called DROH about getting another girl......she only wanted another girl......HA. Shelley
told her that she had been fostering a little miniature black and tan boy that was about 1 year old, they think, named Jackson. Shelley said we grew up together, since he was only about 3 months old when Shelley got him, and that he missed me very much. So the Mommy said OK. Jacks's story was much worse than mine, so I'll tell you his story too because the Mommy not only cries but she gets very angry when she thinks about what could have happened to him.

Jacks's story......Jacks was found dumped in a trash can when he was about 3 months old by a city garbage man. Thank God, the man heard what he though was a baby whimpering and got him out. He took him to the city pound and they called DROH. Shelley went and got him. He was so tiny and frail. He had mange was bad that he had no hair and was chalky looking. By the time the Mommy adopted Jacks, his hair had grow back and it felt like satin. Jacks could have died. Whoever threw him away like a piece of trash should be thrown in jail with Michael Vick and left to rot there.

Anyway, right after the Mommy got Jacks, she decided to take us to Petco to have our pictures taken. This is what they came up with. Boy do I look different now.

Goodness, look at all that wild and woolly hair.

Now to tell you the reason for this story. The Mommy has been thinking about doing a new feature when we finish this one. She has been thinking a lot about how much she misses Jacks and how close we were. When the Mommy had to give my brothers back to DROH, Shelley took him back with her and she wanted me back too but the Mommy said NO WAY!!! Shelley lives in Indiana now so even though we get pictures of him he is to far away to visit aand that makes the Mommy very sad.

So we want to do a post about brothers and sisters. We know a few of them, like Maggie and Mitch, Huskee and Hershey, Simba and Jazzi and JB and Bear. So if you want to be a part of my new post, please let us know and if you want to take a picture of the two of you together please e-mail it to us. We still gots Q-Z left so you have plenty of time or we can pick pictures off your blogs.

Before we go on to "P" choices, the Mommy wants to tell you a little story of me and Jacks's first meeting after being apart for 3 weeks.

The Mommy here......when Ron and Deb brought Jacks by, they came through the back yard. Mona was sitting on the back of a over stuffed chair directly across from the patio door. When Ron knocked on the patio door, Mona got so excited when she saw Jacks, she jumped down from the chair and ran for the closed patio door. She bounced off the door, shook herself off and hopped around the door until I could get it open. I had never seen so much excitement on my life. I was so happy, I decided to take him instead of another girl. Dr Ruth wasn't there that day. So that's how I got involved with DROH and the rest is history.

STRINGS OF FRIENDSHIP "P"

Me and the Mommy decided that we needed at least one more kitty cat for my friendship posts, so we looked around until we found one with the letter "P" so tonight you get a doggie and a kitty.

PRESTON the Puggle from California
Preston is a handsome fella. I choose him because I've never met a pugggle before and he looks like we could have a good time together.

First Mom says she loves the picture of the iris. She can't wait until the iris blooming at our new house so she can see what colors they're going to be. I'll participate in your borther's and sisters segment. There's 1 picture of me, Sasha and Gunnar that was taken around Christmas and that's the only one I can think of where there's more than 1 of us in a picture. I'll check for more pictures though. Mom says it's hard to get just one of us in a picture and it's almost impossible to get more than one.

What a lovely story. Even though I complain about my little brother, I sure like having him around. Its fun to have a doggie pal to bitey face and stuff.
