MY DAY AT PETS MART & S.M.A.R.T

Hi my friends,

The Mommy decided it was time for me to get my summer haircut cut today, earlier than usual....after all it's just now spring.... but being a wirehair when the flowers start blooming (in our case the weeds) me start to get all them little sticky thistle thingies all in my hair....they hurt my paws too.

The Mommy found out last night that a rescue group that she helps out with called S.M.A.R.T was having a "adopt a pet" day at PETS MART so what a better time then today to get my haircut. BTW---ME HATE GETTING MY HAIRCUT!!!
It's not the haircut so much, I just don't like being left alone there....what if the Mommy forgot to come get me....Can me help it if I just love the Mommy so much I'd die without her? So while me was getting groomed, her went & helped "talk up the doggies". What exactly does "TALK UP MEAN"? All me know is the Mommy can talk!!

Let the Mommy explain about S.M.A.R.T.

SMART is a rescue group that finds forever homes for all kinds of dogs. They get their dogs from different animal shelters around Houston or dogs found wondering the streets. There is a network of fosters that shelter these dogs, provide any medical care needed, spay & neuter & love them all until they are adopted. If you remember in one our very earliest posts, we showed pictures of Sootie, a dachshund/basinje mix that I wanted to adopt myself but a certain little spoiled wire haired girl didn't like her. Well despite that, Sootie did get adopted & is very happy with her new family.

Pets Marts @ 610 & 45N, in Houston, is very supportive of adoption groups in town, so once a month, SMART has a table setup with volunteers that tell interested people about the dogs they have. Sometimes we place a few, like the 3 that got adopted today but there are more dogs available than people wanting to adopt. The two little ones in the pens were not lucky today but there will be other Saturdays & they are at least safe & not in the streets.

Today's lucky 3!!

One of the lucky puppies adopted today. The man with the big smile on his face is her new Daddy.

One of the bigger dogs with his new Daddy. His new name is HARLEY.
He is solid black with a patch of white on his neck.

This little guy is Jake, He was so sleepy, his new Mommy and Daddy put him in a shopping basket & he was snuggling on top of their jackets. The Daddy woke him up for me to take his picture--he said & I quote
"wake up my little man & smile"

"all dogs deserve to have a loving family like these 2 did and have now!!!! Please consider adoption.

Now you might ask where was I at all afternoon while all this was going on? Waiting for the Mommy to come & get me, of course. I could of helped "talk up" the doggies too!! The little video was taken when the Mommy came & got me---I guess me was a little excited. I'm nakkid again & me hope you all still like me with no hair.

Yes it's really me......love ya lots & lots.... Mona

Jake looks like an eskie! Did you tell him you went with an eskie on a road and balloon trip to Alaska to rescue Hershey?
