FOR PRESS IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Harris County Pet Owners Get Lucky on Friday the 13th

Unveiling of New Free App to Help Find Your Four-Legged Lost Love

What:
Harris County is the first public shelter in the United States to integrate its data with
PiP My Pet, a facial recognition app for animals. This innovative pet recognition
system will enable automated matching of animals in the Harris County Animal
Shelter with lost pets posted to the app. The PiP My Pet app will be demonstrated
during the media event.

When:
Friday, February 13, 2015
10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Where:
HCPHES Veterinary Public Health Shelter – Main Lobby
612 Canino Road, Houston, TX 77076

Who:
Dr. Michael White, Director, HCPHES Veterinary Public Health
Philip Rooyakkers, CEO, PiP My Pet

Why:
Losing a pet can be tragic and devastating to many people who consider their pets
family members. PiP My Pet will make it easier and quicker for Harris County
residents to find their lost pets. The quicker a pet is found, the less likely it is to be
injured. People living in Harris County can register their pets, including photos, on the
free app. If their pet gets lost, they activate the app which automatically searches for a
match. Photos of all animals at the Harris County Animal Shelter will be sent to PiP
My Pet. Good Samaritans who find a lost pet can also use PiP My Pet to find its owner
by posting a picture of the animal to the app
