POWER OF THE PAW FOR MY SISSY.

  QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"Dachshunds are ideal for small children, as they are already stretched and pulled to such a length that a child cannot do much harm one way or another"

Angel Weenie here.........

I came down to try to cheer up my Sissy and Mommy. Mona's hip has been bothering her again but Mommy has been so worried that she just hasn't felt like blogging about it. It's not fair you  know, my Mona has Cushings and now Mommy's old friend Arthur-ri-ties decided he wants her too.

Mommy didn't even let me know right away or I would have come earlier. I'm just gonna copy and paste what's been happening.

On Oct 3 .....

Last night Mona started limping very badly and after a while she started hopping with her right hind leg up. Her eyes showed she was in pain.

On Oct 4 .......

Mona went to the Vet and this is what Mommy found out:

Mona is still limping and hopping around. It's the arthritis in her hip going down her leg. She has very little cartridge left.

Dr Briles gave her a shot called Adequan. She will get 4 shots once a week for a month. The internet said it is a Arthritis care injectable that contains polysulfated glycosaminoglycans to promote cartilage formation in dogs with degenerative joint disease."

She will be taking Rimadyl for the next 3 days and then as needed.

He also gave her some S3 Soft Chews which is a Synovial Support Supplement. She will take 1/2 chew everyday for 4 to 6 weeks and then go on a maintenance program. The dosage is based on weight. She has lost 1 1/2 pounds since May 9th and weighs

14 1/2 pounds now. It smells like fish and she loved it. Prissy is jealous because she didn't get any.
Also from the internet............

"Synovial-Flex Soft Chews for dogs is recommended to support healthy joint function in dogs. May help alleviate the pain associated with normal daily exercise and activity. It's a comprehensive nutritional supplement that combines Glucosamine HCl, Perna Canaliculus, MSM and Omega-3 Fatty Acids, Antioxidants, Vitamins and Minerals in a delicious treat like chew.

Dr Briles also checked out another small bump on her back that has developed since her last 6 month post cancer exam. It was nothing to worry about. The usual fatty, oily whatever you call it that dogs get when their glands clog up. She has a perfect square shaped patch of naked skin where he shaved her. He used a needle to draw the stuff out.

The Mommy here........

This morning Mona went back to the vet and got her second shot. She is still limping but doesn't appear to be in as much pain. He took her off the Rimadyl and switcher her to Tramadol.  Thank goodness her Cushings is still under control. We'll just have to take one day at time.

All she wants to do is sit in my lap or outside in the sunlight when I'm home.

Mona's naked patch.

Poor Mona, with all you have to deal with, with your Cushings, you could have done without this too.
We hope the medicine works and you are soon feeling better sweetie.

I'm so sorry Mona hasn't been feeling well. My sissy has arthritis too, and she says it's definitely NO fun at all. But she trudges through, and I know you can too!
