SOME OF MY PETTIE FRIENDS & MOMMY'S AWARDS

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages.

-- Thomas Alva Edison

Hi friends,

Mommy has a confession to make. Before she met our next door neighbor, Smokey, when he was only 8 weeks old, she wanted nothing to do with Pit Bulls. The false reputation these  dogs have was all that Mommy knew. She was outraged over the evil and suffering caused by Michael Vick and signed all the petitions and did several posts about that hateful excuse for a man but she would have done the same thing for any breed of dog. Mommy had friends, that had pits but she never visited them. Fear will do that to you. All that changed the day Sandra found Shelby. Seeing the poor beaten dog that Shelby was on that day tore her apart. It's one thing to see pictures of a dog that was used as bait to train fighting pit bulls but to see a dog in the flesh was a whole different thing. Shelby has made Mommy a better person, a more compassionate person, the kind of person she should always have been. Mommy has been so upset over what could happen with Shelby's puppies but today Scout & Freyja's Mom, Mimi, wrote a comment on my last post that made Mommy cry because it is so true and the way Mommy will think about Shelby and her pups from now on. Here is that comment.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scout 'n Freyja has left a new comment on your post "SHELBY'S TEST RESULTS":
We are hoping and hoping that the babies of Shelby will all be furry strong and healthy. You can't worry too much about the meds she took because, after all, if she hadn't been saved, she would be in heaven and we would not have ever had to chance to know her!

OK, let me introduce some to some of our Pettie friends.

ACE,
his Mommy, Nana, works with my Mommy.
Smokey
Brinkesy Winksey Puddin Pie.
Baby Girl,
her Mommy is on Mommy's team at work and
she is now 10 weeks old.
Now I'm gonna brag on my Mommy. She came home
with these today and a big grin on her face.
SJMC, the hospital where Mommy works, has what they call the GEM
program. It's where your peers see you doing something that makes them proud to know you or they witness you going above and beyond what is expected. Each Department nominates people and you get flowers, the person that nominated you reads your GEM card out loud for everybody to hear,  you get your picture taken and you get a star that hangs above your desk. Each department submits their gems to Administration and every quarter two hospital associates are awarded 250.00.  Well guess what!! Mommy got 2 today!!  Boy what Mommy could do with that money to help Shelby
Mommy is one of 3 associates and 2 managers that are on the Gem Committee for the CBO. On Gem Presentation Day, one persons hangs the star and one person takes the pictures. Mommy is the official picture taker and she follows behind and takes each winner's picture with the handwritten gem card. After they finished with the presentations, Mommy went back to her desk to upload the pictures. Guess what happened then? One of the managers asked for the camera and they presented her with her gem cards. The Mommy was speechless, for a change, and didn't want to take a picture  but they made her. "I hate taking pictures!"
I just love to see my Mommy smile so I had to grin right back at her.
One last thing before I say goodbye for tonight. Everybody needs a good laugh once in awhile, right? The director of ATDR's, sister fell from a baloney and is in critical condition and we have all been trying help her have faith, think positively and cheer her up. Today she sent all of us with ATDR, the link below and said she needed a good laugh and this did it for her. Please watch it. It is hilarious and one of the doggies reminds me of Scout. Enjoy!!!..

Oddly enough, my momma was just thinking about Linne and her sister this evening, a few hours before reading this post.

Is her sister improving?? She is in my thoughts. Linne is such a wonderful lady and has helped many many many dachshunds find their forever home.

Way to go Mommy! I love the one about helping the elderly lady. Our society is getting really bad about that. How hard is it to just be nice?

Love your pettie friends. What wonderful faces! And could that belly be any cuter?

Wags!

YIPPEE! Congratulations to your mommy on her awardie! That is the Most Wonderful thing and I know she deserved it! You're pretty lucky, Mona, to have such a sweet mommy!

Oh, and guess what? My mom was really, really skeered of pit bull doggies, too. And then she fell in luv with me. And lotsa peoples thought I was a pit bull and that kind of made her skeered cuz she'd heard all the horror stories on the news. So she started reading up on pit bulls - you know, in case I suddenly turned on her and tried to eat her one day. BOL! And she was SOOOO surprised by what she learned and how very much wrong she was. Of course, it turns out that I'm not "technically" a pit bull but enough peoples think that I am that mom and me try to use that to educate them on what's real and what's not.

So don't feel bad abouts how you used to feel. You know better now and so you can help educate peoples, too! My mom always says that it's about changing one heart at a time.

Wiggles & Wags,
Mayzie

PeeS. I thinks Scout and Freyja are very wise.

Congrats on your awards! And even better, you now have more money to help pay Shelby's hefty vet bills!

I used to be afraid of pitbulls too. Then my neighbor got one and she is just the sweetest thing! I feel silly now being scared of them. Dogs are just like people in that some are good and some are bad - in every breed!
