A DROH SUCCESS STORY & SHELBY ????

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"If your dog thinks you're the greatest person in the world,

don't seek a second opinion."

--- Jim Fiebig

Hi everybody,

Mommy has some news on Shelby for all of you but first,  I want to share a DROH success story with you. Remember last year DROH took in a little dog that had a severe case of mange and that his rescuer named him Duncan McShipley because he looked like a powdered donut?

Before
After
Well he's not a powder donut anymore!! It just goes to show you what a little TLC will do and that you never give up on any animal that comes your way. Duncan gots adopted!! This is what he has to say in his own words.

Where can I start? My foster mom - the most beautiful mom on the planet - has decided to keep me. So I get to stay and live in this wonderful place with all my adopted brothers and sisters, such as Daisy (formerly Snow White, also adopted from DRoH). My wonderful mom also does wildlife rescue... can you believe she is taking care of five baby skunks?! How cool is that? She nursed me back to health and got rid of that horrible mange. You would not believe how handsome I am now!

SHELBY UPDATE

This afternoon, I called Sandra to see how are patients were doing. She said there was a problem with Shelby. I thought, oh my God, what is it this time? What more could be wrong, since she already has so many strikes against her. Well Sandra noticed that her nipples are hanging more than usual and she has been gaining a lot of weight. Yesterday Sandra said her belly was moving like something was in there. So it looks like Shelby might be pregnant after all. I called the doctor and told him what our suspensions are and asked should she still be taking all her medications, because if she is pregnant we don't want to hurt the babies. He said to stop the medications and when we take Tiger back in on Saturday to bring her in too. This is definitely not something we were expecting. Maybe it is something else. We asked the doctor could she be pregnant when we first found her and he said no. We don't need puppies but we don't want it to be something else. The thought of aborting a pregnancy is not something either of us would consider unless her life was in danger. Having a house full of puppies will mean even for stress for Sandra which she doesn't need now.  I will let you know Saturday night what the verdict will be. So who knows. We might be having a house load of these soon.
Mona here.....

Mommy said she is too old for this kind of stuff.....mmmm, wonder if I could keep one?

Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}} to all....Mona and a very confused & concerned Mommy to!!

Keeping paws crossed for Shelby.

That's lovely about Duncan and kind of worrisome about the pawssibility of puppies. It doesn't sound like anything anyone needs, but it sure sounds like pregnancy. Even if you didn't mind aborting them, it sounds like if she is pregnant it would be kind of late for than unless it was a total emergency. Oh, boy, oh boy! I'm trying to decide what outcome I should cross my paws for. I came up with if it is puppies, I'm hoping that it's a tiny litter of one or two. How's that?

lotsa licks, Lola

Yes, if she is preggers, I think most definitely you should get a new baby bro or sis!BOL!

Ooh, I hope that Shelby doesn't bring you a house of puppies...as fun as that could be, it sounds like a LOT of work. We remember how much work it was with one puppy (me!)

Awwww...yippee for Duncan! That's so very much wonderful! He looks so handsome and it sounds like he found the best home that ever was!

Oh brudder abouts Shelby! I'm with Lola that if she IS pregnant, maybe it'll just be one or two. I'll keep my paws crossed for the best outcome - whatever that might be.

Heysa Mona! Wesa think Duncan is super cutes and that so pawsome that he found his forever home from the start. In regards to Miss Shelby, we hopes that she doesn't have any little babies in her belly but at the same time, we don't want her physical changes to be a signs of infectiums or something worse. We will pray and send the power of the paw to Sandra, your mommy, and especially Tiger and Miss Shelby and hopes that everything goes well...hole closes in Tigers lung and Shelby is just gaining weight and nothing more.

Pee Ess: If you ask real nice maybe you could have a puppy of your own...hmmm...On second thought you may not want a puppy...they are quite bothersome...i.e. Uncle Puppy

Hi Mona! That is so great about Duncan - such a happy ending!

And oh, about Miss Shelby. The pictures on Sunday of her - we thought she looked a little, um, nippely but we said no, we must be seeing things or maybe that is just becuase of her previous life. We hope it isn't puppies (we love them but oh, we know they will be a lot of work) but we don't want it to be anything else either - oh, if it has to have an explination it so sounds like puppies (if it is we hope it is just "puppy").

And if she wasn't pregnant when she was found, our next question is probably pretty obvious - who is the dad?

Oh dear, the Shelby saga just keeps on going on and on. We hope in some ways that she isn't pregnant, but what else could it be? Paws crossed that all works out well.

Hurray for Duncan!

Well, I hope that Miss Shelby isn't preggers...but considering the alternatives, that actually might be the best possible outcome.

If she is, DEFINITELY start lobbying mom to let you keep one!

Hi Mona! Thank you for asking about my pictures. You may use any you want. I copyrighted them mainly to discourage people outside doggie blog land not to take them but you may use any you want!

Me feeling a bit better now that I had a shot.

Doxie love,
Ruthie

Wait I think I used a double negative. I hope to discourage people outside of doggie blog land from taking them. Does that make better sense? But again you are welcome to any. Thank you for asking.

Dearest Mona,
Thank you for sharing the happy story of Duncan! It's stories like these that make everything seem worthwhile. (Btw can you check with Duncan and his mom if they may have missed out on another skunk? There is a skunk-like thing that claims to be a Border Collie in my house... can you take her away?)

OMdoG... Shelby may be preggers?? Honestly I don't know if I should be happy or sad!!! Well obviously happy cos who wouldn't want another puppy (or puppies)? But we do understand the strain and stress it'd put on Sandra. I do hope that if there are really pups in Shelby's belly, you'd get to pick and keep one (though your mom may feel otherwise..).

XOXO
