MONA VS THE PANTHER & IT'S A SMALL WORLD

QQUOTE OF THE DAY:

"Where there is great love there are always miracles."
--- Willa Cather

Hi my friends,

Mona here.......Tuesday night I almost caught this big black cat!! I almost did, really I did!! But I'm gonna let Mommy tell ya what happened.

Mommy here.......Tuesday evening, I was watching Chopped on the Food Network, when I heard a terrible commotion in the back yard. Mona, Spike & Smokey on their side of the fence and the dog behind our house were barking like they were trying to rise the dead. They were all going ballistic. So, I turned the patio light on but didn't see anything , just Mona running back and forth next to garage. I had never heard her bark that loud or long and she refused to come to me. I went back in to get a leash and managed to grab her as she ran past me. She scratched me trying get out of my arms but I sat on the patio chair trying to calm her down. She almost busted my eardrums, still barking her head off. Then I saw it, a HUGH BLACK CAT, on the roof of the garage, pacing back and forth along the edge of the roof. I sat with Mona in my arms for almost 15 minutes watching this creature, while all the dogs except Mona, were still barking their heads off. He kept stopping and seemed to be trying to decide whether to jump or not. He sounded terrified, meowing and hissing. Finally he jumped and landed in one of planters. That was it. Mona clawed herself out of my arms and took off after it. Thank God, the HUGE BLACK CAT, or what looked like a panther in the dark got away. This is what he really looked liked when he darted across the patio and over the fence. It was really kinda funny, except for the scratches. Purely a case of mistaken identity.
. Mommy got picked Wednesday for jury duty on a criminal case that had to do with burglary of a car but she didn't have to serve on it. She and 23 other folks were chosen to form a panel and 6 had to be chosen for the actual jury. Mommy was the third person that was chosen but they couldn't find anybody else so the judge had to dismiss everybody and he said they had "busted" the panel. As they were leaving the judge said they were the second panel that had been dismissed.
Mommy said they might not ever get a jury because almost everybody in the world has had a car broken. Mommy says she's glad it was over but it took 5 hours before they were let go.........but it's a small world.

While the panel was waiting to be called into the courtroom, Mommy met a lady named, Rhonda, on the panel. Mommy had taken a magazine to read called the "Dachsie Digest" and was reading it. The lady said "Oh you get that magazine too!!" Well guess what? She has 3 dachshunds. So after that it wasn't boring sitting around anymore. Then Mommy started talking about me and told the lady she was with DRoH and told her about our first foster, Beckett, that was found in New Orleans during Katrina. Rhonda got very excited and said all three of her dogs were found in Louisiana during Katrina by her son, who was a first responder with the Human Society of American and when no one came forward to claim them, he adopted all three!!! "How cool is that? Now Mommy has a new friend, which means more dachsies for me to play with.

As everybody knows, my Mommy loves flowers and tomorrow we are going to the Texas hill country to hunt wildflowers. They are supposed to be fantastic this year because of all the rain we had and how cold it's been. Next weekend is the Spring Fling and the week after that it will be too late. Bluebonnets have a short time before it gets to hot and everything dries up. We can't wait!!

The weekend of Paws in the Park, we took pictures of Aunt Judy's of some of new blooms, they were pretty but they have all gotten so much prettier in such a short time. So Mommy is gonna show of them along with some new pictures of my friends.

This little bud was just opening up that weekend and today Aunt Judy sent this...

this pic of how it looks now!!!
