APRIL 2014 DACHSHUND ADOPTIONS
Quote of the Day:
A dog is not a thing. A thing is replaceable. A dog is not. A thing is disposable. A dog is not. A thing doesn’t have a heart. A dog’s heart is bigger than any “thing” you can ever own.”
Once again it's time to share the monthly adoptions figures for the 3 Texas Dachshund groups we are privileged to be a part of. A total of 41 doggies found forever homes in time for Mother's Day this year. We wonder just how many will be home in time for Father's Day.
*****Speaking of Father's Day, don't forget Mommy will be doing a Father's Day Smiley Box to honor our Dad's. For those of us, like me and Prissy, that don't have a Daddy, a Grandpa, Uncle, a human brother, human cousin or any man that loves you can be honored. Pictures are being accepted now. Of course there will be a special Rainbow Bridge section*****Mona
Lovie Update...........
We have a bit of cautious good news on Lovie. She has (very briefly) been able to bear some weight on her back legs. Her doctors say that she is still showing neurological improvement, so they expect continued progress. She still won't be assigned to a cart, as those muscles continue to strengthen. It's a long road for her, but she is continuing on her journey.
Lovie is a little gal that is so full of life. She moves so fast she is hard to keep up with. Lovie is always happy to meet new people she jumps up and down with excitement . Lovie loves to give lots of kisses, she likes cats and dogs and of course children. Lovie gets around as fast as other dogs.

From Mona Lisa's forever family........
Monique came to us as one of our many foster dogs. My daughter and I fell in love with her and decided she was a great fit for our family.she would be the one we did not let go. We call her Mona Lisa as she has a slight smile. She is so sweet and funny ...an independent girl who loves to be outside with me as I garden. She loves to wake my daughter up in the morning with a nudge and puppy kisses. Thank you Dream for coming into our life. We love our Mona Lisa.

From Mattie's forever family.........
Told with Love. Possible by Love.
Sometimes in this crazy world, we find ourselves with a hole in our heart that can only be filled by the unconditional, tail wagging, sometimes silly Love from a new four legged friend.
Sometimes in this crazy world, we find ourselves with a hole in our heart that can only be filled by the unconditional, tail wagging, sometimes silly Love from a new four legged friend.
Enter Mattie Olivet, our new pretty little wire haired girl. She runs with a hop like a bunny, her ears flip backward all the time like she is signaling to turn left and her eyebrows are wiggly. She chases after our 70 pound boxer rescue Patch with all the force her 12 pounds can muster and she tries to outwit our daughter's rescue Chloe with only limited success. All the while bestowing that unconditional Love upon our whole family.
Told with Love. Possible by Love. Rescued by Love.
Thank you, DREAM.

Description:
Jacque is a beautiful black and white dachshund mix female about 9 lbs. She was found as a stray with a serious head injury several months ago and underwent extensive surgery to correct it. The skull appears to be malformed on just one side - as if it is tilted at a 45 degree angle. She has both eyes, but one is lower and the surgeon moved the opening of the skull down some so that she could actually see out of both eyes! The eye appears somewhat slanted or closed but she does see well out of that side too! She is a happy and loving, affectionate girl that is very playful. She might seem shy at first glance but warms up quickly and loves the attention. She is good with people, other dogs and even the cat! Jaque is crate trained, spayed and fully vaccinated. Please help this beautiful girl find just the right home

Description:She's like a cross between the energizer bunny and a muppet. She's the cutest darn thing her foster mom has ever seen. It's unimaginable that anyone was able to throw Riley into a dumpster. Yet, with all that Riley has been through she is the sweetest, most loving little girl. Riley is very young and sassy (in a good way). She's still very much a puppy. She has so much love and fun to bring to a new family. Riley is high energy. She could run and play all day. It's best that she have at least one other playful dog in her new home. Riley has brought a spark of life to her senior doxie housemates. The great thing about Riley is you get all the perks of a puppy without starting from scratch with training. Riley is working on house training and is definitely crate trained. She likes to chew on toys and rawhide but has not been found chewing on anything she shouldn't be chewing on, for example wood or furniture...although she is known to be a slipper thief. Thus far no slippers have been harmed; merely picked up and dropped elsewhere in the house. This adorable bundle of joy is basically gift wrapped and waiting for her wonderful new life to begin with her lucky new family. Riley is fully vetted and ready for her forever home!

Sure are a bunch of cuties! Riley would have made a good sissy for you guys! And Lovie reminds Mommy so much of her Ginger. Ginger was permanently paralyzed for 13 years but was still the fastest-movin pup in the household!
They're all so cute!
