QUOTE OF THE DAY:
Our task must be to free ourselves... by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.
Waring -- This post contains some alarming pictures of a abused 1 year old dog. Please do not go any further if it will disturb you.
Dear friends,
Yesterday, I went to Aldine Animal to pick up some special food for Mona and Weenie. My heart caught in my throat by the dog I saw. Shelby flashed through my mind and the tears started to come.
Is this abuse never to end?

Dobbie found 1/16/20 |
The lady with the dog and I started talking and I asked her if she was with a pit bull rescue group. She said no that she is with a small rescue group that takes any kind of dog. I was so upset that I didn't even ask the name. We talked about me being with dachshund rescue. Her name was Lisa. Most of their dogs are boarded because they don't have many fosters. Dr Briles is involved with a number of rescue groups so I wasn't surprised to see her there. She asked if I had any advice about getting involved in events to spread the word about their group and help raise money. Of course I offered to help. She asked if I was on Facebook and asked if she could add me as a friend. I said yes and last night she sent me the pictures below.

I saw this dog walking down the road when I was down in Houston. I decided to turn around and take the dog some food since I had a little bag in the car. This poor dog, now called Dobbie, looked so horrible that I had to try to do something to help him. I initially thought he was a puppy since he looked so small.
I gave him some food that he ate from the baggie I had it in. He was so hungry,
but he would look up at me like he was so happy to have food and he would wag his
tail.
I called a wonderful person who has helped with another dog I had found and she offered to help with vetting. I took him to the vet and it turns out this poor guy is about 1 yr old pittie, weighs only 28.10lbs, HW positive, has hookworms, horrible skin infection, puncture wounds and bite marks and has scabies. Dobbie is what I named him. He is in ISO Boarding at the vet for 2 weeks. He will be getting his vaccs and when he is healthy, he will be getting neutered. Dobbie will need a foster after his ISO period is complete and once he gets neutered, he will be available for adoption. He is skin and bones now, but with help he will be a beautiful boy!
If you would like to help with Dobbie's boarding/vet bill, you can call and donate directly to the vet. He is staying at Adine Animal Hospital 440 Aldine Bender Road Houston, TX 77060 (281) 448-3256. Just let them know it is for Dobbie under Lisa Keener's account. Thanks and please keep Dobbie in your thoughts.
I also wanted to note that while I was at the vet waiting on him to go back to the isolation rooms, he had an accident. From the looks of it, seems like he ate some type of rope something or other b/c that's what it looked like. Poor guy was so hungry.
1/17/2013 UPDATE:
Dobbie is doing good this morning. He ate his nummies and there's really not much change this morning but it is just the first day. I am sure he enjoyed the warm bed and food instead of the street. I am waiting on an estimate from the vet for his vetting and will post when i get it for those who had wanted to help. Thanks for sharing and caring about little Dobbie.

My heart is breaking. Please keep this sweet boy in your thoughts and prayers. I will be taking Mona and Weenie to Dr Briles on Saturday and I told Lisa I would check up on him and take some new pictures, where hopefully he will look better.

Mommy said she won't even say what she thinks about the people that did this to him! Because you would bleep all the HBO words out.
