PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THE END OF THIS POST IF DISTRUBING PICTURES BOTHER YOU. THERE IS A HORRIFING PICTURE OF HEMI THE DACHSHUND AT THE BOTTOM.
Something tragic happened in Texas several days ago to 2 rescued dachshunds and I have been too devestated to talk about it. The image of Hemi is still in my mind. Such Evil in this world, I am still in a state of shock. I keep asking myself.......WHY? How can something so horrifying happen here, or anywhere for that matter. ATDR received an e-mail that was sent to a dachshund rescue rescue group and then forwared to all of us to be on the ALERT, but it is something that could happened to any breed.
Below is the e-mail.

Today I ask for prayers for Dachshunds in Texas that were family pets, and were later found skinned alive. Both dogs survived their injuries; both dogs were later euthanized because of their severity. I will be asking Sussie to start a chip-in for the medical bills left behind, as well as networking to help make other Dachshund rescuers and owners aware of this new-found "trend" of the sickos out there, who can't find anything better to do with their time than cause undue pain and unbearable suffering to the breed we so love.
Please hug your Dachshunds tight today, on behalf of the two dogs in Texas....they were 2 separate cases.....I will not be forwarding their photos at this time after injuries, as I have not been able to stop crying since I saw them.....it is just heartbreaking.
Rest in peace, little ones, and I pray that the authorities will not "rest" until they find your abusers....

REWARD offered for good tip on suspect responsible for skinning dog.

UPDATE: A reward is being set up for whoever mutilated an East Texas family's dog.
People from New York to Florida have joined the Facebook page, "Justice for Hemi."
Hemi was skinned alive earlier this week near his home in Rusk County, where he later died from those injuries.
Several people on the page say they are willing to donate money to make sure whoever did this is caught.
RUSK COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A family wants answers after finding their dog mutilated in an East Texas neighborhood. The dog, named Hemi, was found Monday around 3:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Lansing Lane in Hallsville.
Hemi's owner, Jackie Smiddy, says she is devastated and wants the person responsible for killing her dog to be held accountable.
He was friendly. He wouldn't hurt anyone, he stayed on the porch and he wouldn't chase after anyone. I mean you couldn't ask for a better dog," said Jackie.
Jackie doesn't understand why anyone would want to hurt Hemi, her pet of seven years.
"They had skinned him all the way down his back and this skin here was folded back, there was no skin on either side of him. No fur. It was just flesh," she said.
"Once he got in the light I could see what blood all over him," said Cheyenne Smiddy, dog owner.
Jackie's daughter, Cheyenne said she went to let their other dog out when Hemi came around the house, covered in his own blood.
"I mean it's just like losing one of my kids. It's just hard that someone could take an innocent dog and do this to him," said Jackie.
Jackie said by the time her daughter came in to get her, Hemi was gone. They believe he went to die.
The family said Hemi was abused and neglected before the Houston Humane Society took him in and the Smiddy Family adopted him.
"I never thought he'd have to go through anything like this I mean we would never hurt him and to see him have to do it twice and not live, it hurts," said Cheyenne.
"Whoever did this will pay, they will pay for this," said Jackie.
The Harrison County Sheriff's Office said they're waiting for a veterinarian to examine the dog's body. Harrison County officials said cruelty to animal charges could be filed. If you have any information about this incident, you are asked to call the Harrison County Sheriff's Office immediately.

Please dear friends, never EVER leave your little ones alone outside. I did not mean to upset anyone by this post but to make us all aware of that there are so many evils in this world.
